My family loves Jimmy John’s. The bread is delicious, choices are great and the prices even better. One night I ordered on the app, selecting asap for when to pick up, and immediately drove to this Hawks Prairie location (5min). I sat in the car in front waiting to get notified that my order was ready, as typically, at any other location, it would take 3-10 minutes. I waited and waited, watching through the glass windows as the two employees finished up with an order that someone was picking up. I was thinking they would start on mine. For some reason, they did a high five, then looked like they were cleaning while talking. I waited for at least 30 minutes, not seeing any bagged order anywhere in the store. So I finally walked in and one of them asked to help me. I told her I was there to pick up and couldn’t believe when she didn’t even ask about my order or name. She walked over and looked at one of two receipts that were up above the food wells, then she started making my sandwiches. I stood there for a few minutes while she made my 3 sandwiches, then handed them to me and I left. Considering I paid when ordering, it makes no sense to think they might have been trying to minimize loss. If a manager taught them that process, then that’s even worse. I would rather drive to the Martin Way location, where I’ve never had an issue in years.

Ordered for CURBSIDE pick up, and three employees working sat inside and just watched my car for about 30 minutes. No one ever even attempted to bring my food out, despite me checking in, putting on my flashers, and sitting right in front of their door, for 30 minutes. I eventually gave up and walked in and food had been sitting on a rack ready. Receipt even says CURBSIDE. Very lazy employees who do not strive to go above and beyond, and honestly freakishly slow.

Ordered via the jimmy johns mobile app. All of our sandwiches had something wrong, which I can overlook because all it caused us to do was picking toppings off. We were also missing three of our five drinks. Evidently there’s no way to request a refund via the app, so I called the store I ordered from. I explained the situation and the guy said “Can’t you just come to the store and grab them?”, which I ordered delivery for a reason. I then was told that they don’t know how to do refunds, so I asked if he could please figure it out. He then told me the “best he can do” is put a note in for a credit on my number if I call in the next time I order.

After being a regular here since they opened a few years back, I cannot visit anymore. The prices are jacked thru the roof. One block down the street, Meconi’s Italian Subs is selling very premium subs for $15. At this Jimmy John’s, a simple “large” turkey sub is $20. Before JJ’s says that their large is 16″ whereas Meconi’s is only about 12″, there is one other big difference: Meconi’s loads their subs with a good helping of meat. At this JJ’s, you’re lucky to get 4 thin, small slices of turkey on a large. I am a regular so it’s not a fluke, it’s this location being consistently stingy with ingredients. All in all, Meconi’s is way better and only one block away. This sadden’s me as I am a regular at this JJ’s, I do love JJ’s rolls and peppers, and the staff is generally pretty nice. But bottom line is Meconi’s is better, dollar for dollar. Their staff is nice too, I’m paying $5 less, and I am getting a more premium sandwich.

So, I didn’t even end up ordering a sandwich this time. I’ve had sandwiches from this location before, and the food is fine, but the employees don’t really ever seem like they’re happy to be here.
I understand if you don’t like your job, or if you don’t use this as a career, that’s fine, but at least try to pretend like you like your job.
When I walked in today there was already two customers in front of me, and the cashier in front of both of us was on what I can only assume is her personal cell phone due to the bright pink color of her case, talking to somebody. Even the other employee making a sandwich looked at her like “What are you doing?”.
This went on for approximately 30 seconds while I was there, and I have no idea how long the other people were there. Either way, extremely unprofessional.
And then when she said welcome in, you could tell there was disdain that she has to help another person.
I’m not sure what’s going on in some of the employees personal lives, and I understand everybody has bad days, but this is not the first time I’ve experienced this at this location.
It’ll definitely be the last though.

What can I say other than, “wow,” I mean seriously! Look at the beauty that is this sandwich! From the moment I walked in I was greeted with delicious free smells and wonderful customer service. My sandwich was created quickly and efficiently by two glorious members of staff, with my mouth watering the whole time. When my sandwich was presented to me I was allowed to choose my own amount of napkins and whether or not I wanted a bag… Genius! Truly an incredible innovation to the fast food dining experience! On top of all this service and value you can go sit outside at the conveniently placed mod pizza outdoor seating area right next door. Truly wonderful. A blessing.
