I went with a friend and had the best time. It felt special without being stuffy. I’ve also attended a cake decorating class here before, and it was such a fun, hands-on experience. They offer classes often, which makes this place even more special.
Great treats, great vibes, and such a creative space. I’ll absolutely be back.
The cake stole the show on Mother’s Day! For decor I had simply asked for “springy florals” and the design was adorable, my mom loved it so much! We did a chocolate cake with raspberry filling which was an amazing combo that I highly recommend. Will absolutely be back for future cakes (the cookies were great too!)
We’ve had their GF Chocolate Cupcakes as well which were really good and didn’t have any dryness!
She allowed us to make each layer a different flavor. She asked about allergies, and any special designs we wanted.
We plan to be in touch at our anniversaries, so we can have Elouise make us a mini cake of our beautiful wedding cake to relive our special day.
My review is strictly for cupcakes from the bakery case (eaten day-of-purchase or after 1-day of storage covered at room temp)! I’m wondering if there are different bakers, and maybe the case items are not made by the same baker as the custom orders?
Consistently, the cupcakes were like wet crumbs. They all had tons of air pockets and just fell apart when biting into them. The cupcakes are also on the small side, compared to other gourmet cake shops. The amount of frosting is also super inconsistent, even amongst cupcakes of the same variety/decoration.
A couple of specific problems from my visits, too:
1. On one visit, a Cookies & Cream cupcake had no cookies mixed into the batter or frosting; it was a plain vanilla-vanilla cupcake. I think someone forgot the cookies, and they just sprinkled some oreo dust on-top to cover their mistake.
2. On another visit, the Almond-Raspberry and Funfetti cupcakes had frosting that fell off in a hard puck when you bit into it. I could pick up all the frosting in one piece. It had the hard consistency and taste of straight-up whipped butter, with some vanilla or almond added. I don’t think there was any sugar in that batch of frosting. There’s no way someone didn’t notice this while piping the cupcakes, but they still made their way to the case.
I included some videos of the funfetti cupcake from my last visit to show the problems I described. Something like this should not be selling for $3.50 at a high-end bakery (or be sold at all).
Most of the reviews are good, so again I’m thinking there’s just an issue with whoever is preparing cupcakes for the display case, as there’s great feedback for custom cakes! I would not recommend this spot if you’re looking for a grab-and-go sweet treat.
