When in Door County we try to stop at the Shoreline for a Whitefish dinner. Some of the best if not the best in Door County. It is at the end of Door County so plan on a nice drive up to Gills Rock. In the fall the view of the colors is a plus to the great food. The service is always friendly. They have more then Whitefish for those non fish people. It is well worth the drive.

We enjoyed a lovely early dinner and caught the sunset from the bar patio after. Steak and horseradish whipped mashed potatoes were the table favorite. While the whitefish dip was highly recommended it wasn’t for us- we will be back to try other items for sure!

everything at the shoreline is always amazing and we always make it a priority to stop here for a meal whenever in town. the prime rib special on saturdays is to die for, and the view is even better! their brand new patio is also stunning!

This is a must stop place! I would recommend making a reservation (available through the website). We had the Sprouts and Curds for an app. The Sprouts had just the right amount of heat without being overpowering or spicy. The Curds were delicious and accompanied by seasoned ketchup. Per a recommendation from Steve, a local – we had the Perch Friday night special (either pan fried or lightly deep fried). SO GOOD! It was seasoned to perfection and the fries were just right. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm and inviting – we loved it!

Stopped for lunch and sat on the patio overlooking the Bay. Very nice patio and beautiful view. Food was excellent. Had soup and salads topped with blackened chicken and sesame salmon. Staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

This is the first time we’ve been here under the new owners and the beautiful views that make this restaurant so amazing are still here. The food is amazing as well. We stopped by just for drinks and appetizers but ordered lunch, Smashburgers to be exact. And these were no ordinary burgers. They were double burgers and in my humble opinion currently the best burgers in Northern Door County. I’ve tried burgers in many different places up here in various degrees of tastyness. But this Smashburger was delicious! The portion was also huge so if you have lunch here you will probably skip dinner I know I did. Their drinks were good and they have plenty of outdoor seating if the weather is willing. The only issue we had was lack of staff but I understand the reasons. It’s hard finding employees this far North and being late in the season doesn’t help, student help leaving and all. Try the Shoreline you will not be disappointed.

The only reason why I gave it two stars was because of the sunset. The drinks were probably some of the worst cocktails we have ever had. And the pasta and risotto couldn’t even be finished because they were so over cooked and mushy that we had a couple bites and couldn’t eat anymore. Paid $50 a person x4 to essentially eat appetizers and drink water. Service and food took forever. Got there just before 8 , waited 20 min for a table and didn’t leave until an hour after they close.

Went for dinner before watching the Northern Lights. We were able to get a table easily without a reservation. The wait staff was extremely attentive until the end. The food was very good EXCEPT for the prime rib which was really undercooked. Hard to notice since it was covered in home made onion strips like the kind you put on the green bean casserole but much better. For how much it cost it should have been a better cut. We were full so we didn’t say anything. We planned on reheating it as a sandwich at a later date. They did give us a free dessert for my husband’s birthday which was nice. I would definitely eat here again just stick with the whitefish cakes and the chowder.

Relaxing dinner at a local place in the top of Door County. We had a special anniversary dinner that was great.. loved all the ways to eat the local specialty, whitefish, with a view. My favorite was the whitefish chowder. Good service. Clearly very popular. Not open to the public on weekends. My only criticism was that it was a little pricey.

I feel bad writing this review. We were so excited to try Shoreline with the new ownership and menu, having followed them avidly on social media. Unfortunately, we felt disappointed by the experience.

The menu boasts interesting options, and we started with an old fashioned (which was delicious), chevre schmear, and bloody Mary shrimp cocktail. The presentation of the chevre was lovely, three pieces on a white rectangular plate. However, the garlic crostini was soggy, the chevre could have used more, and while the prosciutto crunch and crushed praline sounded magnificent, they packed the punch of sweet and salty flavor and didn’t deliver as expected on the crunch. The cherry balsamic was flavorful but could have been further reduced to enhance that accent and give it a more viscous texture. The bloody Mary cocktail was delicious! The cocktail sauce was a fun flavorful variation on a traditional cocktail sauce, and the hummus that came with it was also tasty. It seemed to us that perhaps the appetizer would have been better served as two separate options as they didn’t seem to go together thematically particularly well, although they were both tasty!

Next up was the Caesar salad. Our server was friendly and thoughtful, adding anchovies when they requested. The salad however was lackluster. While the romaine was fresh, and the tomatoes beautiful, the red onions were overpowering and the dressing did not deliver on the classic Caesar flavor.

Our server was wonderfully kind but the service felt rushed. We were still working on the appetizer and our salads when our dinners came out. The tenderloin was a lovely cut of beef but could have used a rest before being served and it was a bit too peppered. While excited for the horseradish mashed potatoes, there was more rosemary flavor than horseradish and disappointingly the rosemary was about all they tasted like. I love mashed potatoes and these just didn’t make the cut.

My wife had the chili garlic scallop, something she had been looking forward to having seen it on social media as one of the chef’s specialties. The scallops were a bit overcooked and the chili was overpowering and not crunchy over the delicate scallops, any lime flavor was overpowered to the point of being nonexistent. The lemon caper cream sauce helped balance the spice of the chili but was too salty. Accompanied by the sweet potato hash, the sweet potatoes had a lovely texture but didn’t quite deliver as something unique or exceptional.

We both enjoyed the seasonal vegetables as a side but again, they lacked any flavor or presentation of something significantly interesting.

Last but certainly not least was dessert. I had the salted caramel chocolate torte (sounds delicious!!) and my wife had the creme brulee. The presentation of the torte was nothing short of pathetic. A mostly flat brown disc on a rectangular plate, no drizzle of caramel, sprinkle of salt, or garnish of any sort. The flavors were nice but the texture was almost tough and chewy. The sugar crust on the creme brulee was burnt and excessively thick, requiring use of the edge of the spoon to break through. That having been said the sugar crust was perhaps making up for the heart of the dessert as the custard beneath was near flavorless and had more a texture of whipped egg whites rather than a silky custard.

Overall, the view was stunning as always, but the menu seemed to lack a cohesive theme and the food itself did not deliver on justifying the price of the dishes.
