A Disappointing Experience at The Kookaburra Dondi Coffee Shop
As a coffee enthusiast, I visited The Kookaburra Dondi coffee shop expecting a great experience. Unfortunately, my visit fell short of expectations.
The Issue:
When ordering a cappuccino, I was asked about the size, which raised a red flag. A traditional cappuccino is a 6oz drink, and anything larger is essentially a latte. I opted for the smallest size, 12oz, but received a 20oz cup with an overwhelming amount of milk and only 2 shots of espresso.
Lack of Flexibility:
When I inquired about a single shot, I was told they only serve double shots for $3.50. This lack of flexibility in their menu offerings was disappointing.
Missed Opportunity:
Given the coffee shop was slow and empty, I expected a more personalized experience. Instead, my inquiry was met with awkward silence, and the staff seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns.
Recommendation:
If you’re planning to visit The Kookaburra Dondi coffee shop, I recommend mentioning this review to the staff. This might help ensure that they provide better service and attention to detail.
Overall:
While I appreciate the enthusiasm of independent coffee shops, The Kookaburra Dondi coffee shop needs to work on understanding coffee basics and providing better customer service. Until they refine their offerings and service, I wouldn’t recommend it to coffee purists.

It’s a very spacious place with a friendly staff, however the food was disappointing and overpriced. We got two of the breakfast pies and they used so much salt and pepper that it was really hard to choke them down. Peeling off the top layer of crust that was loaded with salt was helpful but it was still too salty. The specialty coffees are also really over sugared.
I feel like some adjustments could have made the food really good, because they do use quality ingredients.
The price point was also pretty high. Two drinks, two pies, and a pastry was almost $40.

Extremely pleasantly surprised with this spot. The service was amazing. So sweet and gave recommendations. I got the crustless Aussie pie. The worker recommended their special sauce that was spicy and sweet. The combination together was outstanding. The caramel latte was amazing as well. Must try.

Aesthetic, laid back vibe! Get the Aussie pies for sure, they are amazing! Very creamy and full of flavor. The chicken is shredded and seasoned well, and the added veggies with the crisp yet flaky shell come together perfectly! Highly recommend! They are super friendly and give great recommendations. The Alaskan hot chocolate was really good, like a hot chocolate frappe!

Wow such a great experience. I apologize for not knowing the names, but there was an awesome girl taking my order (long blonde hair) and another girl who made our teas who I believe her name was Jordan (she said just say I was the girl with green hair) lovely girls and experience. Got a happy tea for myself, and than asked them to make four different ones for some office girls…and they did so great and the office I gave them to thought they were so yummy. Grew up here and just moved back and felt like back in the day. Thanks guys!!

The savory pies are amazing. The breakfast egg pastries were like quiches but better. Perfect salt level, great amount of protein, ample veggies and ideal amount of flaky crust without overpowering it. Tried every single one and the vejjo was one of my favorites. But they were all excellent. Really hits the spot. Nice coffee drinks too. Love the picollo with sparkling water and could easily swap the milk out for alternatives

Words cannot express the pure joy and kindness we experienced here. Bee and Jordan were knowledgeable and so sweet and fun to work with in selecting the perfect drinks and treats. Cannot recommend the Aussie pies enough and tried the orange bread that was to die for. They have a sweet pepper sauce that was incredible with the pie. The food and drinks were 5 star but the service made it a true memory. This adorable and high quality shop is a must visit each morning while in town! Thank you, Jordan and Bee!!
