Golden Eagle Restaurant has a really pleasant atmosphere that sets a nice tone for the meal — comfortable, inviting, and well put together. The service and food both land in average territory though, which is a little disappointing given how good the setting is. Neither was bad by any means, just unremarkable. With some improvement in the kitchen and more attentive front-of-house staff, Golden Eagle could truly live up to its name.

The Golden Eagle Restaurant, perched on the iconic Hairpin Turn along the Mohawk Trail, offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains, especially during the fall. The red, orange, golden yellow trees are magical! While dining, you are treated to stunning views of the vivid and vibrant autumn foliage blanketing the landscape. The scenery is truly mesmerizing, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal while soaking in the natural beauty.
The lunch on a Sunday afternoon was an American buffet. Variety of dishes, including fish, pork and chicken, that was finger licking delicious. The deserts were fewer but definitely tasty.
Most of the staff are friendly and accommodating but not all of them.
Parking is going to be tough if you come in during peak lunch hours. Many cars were at the overlook parked along the road.

Just dont!! Disappointing and an absolute waste of time and money! Location is convenient to a breathtaking taking view and they make their money on unsuspecting travelers. Food is okay..menu is varied but doesn’t compliment flavors. Best food was the dessert. It is a buffet at $25 per person over age 8. What our waitress failed to tell us and is not mentioned in print anywhere near where the menu is posted is the tea and coffee are included. Their water is contaminated so they serve you bottled water for $1 and all sodas are $3 and they charge for refills even the water. Their bathroom is where the contaminated water notice is posted. Also in the bathroom is a posted sign “This restroom is cleaned and sanitized daily and is furnished to you without charge. Your cooperation in keeping it clean is appreciated. Video attached to how well they believe in their own posted sign. Reading other reviews and responses from the business no change will occur and only unprofessional replies.

The view is astonishing. The hair pin turn it sits on makes it a “can’t miss place.” Thr buffet was good, down home food. The waitress treated us like friends. Fall would be a spectacular time to go if you could get a seat

Staff was super sweet, but this was a miss. The food was tasty enough, but portions were tiny for the price. Apple crisp was “served with ice cream”…it was like a tablespoon of ice cream with a huge swirl of whipped cream from a can on top. I had 3 bites. Not $8 worth of a dessert. Views are beautiful, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone go there for a meal.
*note in their response they say they could have used a dog bowl to serve us. Classy. I asked if the crisp was served with ice cream before ordering. I was told it was, not a heaping tower of whipped cream or I wouldn’t have ordered it. The server even said they cheated a little with the whipped cream. Since the staff here clearly aren’t great problem solvers, I’ll help. You don’t need to switch to serving from dog bowls. Leave off the cheap whipped cream, and serve with one genuine scoop of ice cream. There is room. You’re welcome for the free strategy!

Upon my travel on the hairpin turn I came across this quaint little restaurant with the best view so me and family had to stop to eat and check out the view. The hostess (lady with the green striped shirt on 8/20) asked us if we had a reservation and we said no. When we asked if we could sit in the balcony with our party of 4 she said we could only sit on the balcony if we were a party of 5. That our party of 4 would not be able to sit in a table of 5 incase another party of 5 came. It was very sad and the kids were upset. The saddest part was that a party of 5 never came or any other party for that matter. The so called reservations that were going to take over the whole restaurant as she made it seem never arrived. Other then not being able to sit on the balcony we were kinda shoved in a corner of the restaurant. Because of this reason I am giving it 3 stars. If it wasn’t for this I would have given it a better star rating. The food was pretty good! 2 of us had the Black Diamond Sirloin and it was very good it had a great taste! Another person got the Crab Cakes & the Egg Plant Romano and those were both good as well. Hopefully if you come here you will have a better experience with seating and the beautiful view won’t be wasted.

This location is a historical gem. The scenic view on the hairpin turn is a sight to behold. Wife and I went for the buffet which is consistent and delicious. If you need a cocktail they have you there as well. Can’t wait to have dinner and enjoy the foliage.
The food is only outmatched by the service. John the owner is not only the resident historian but the one who puts together all the deliciousness..
Golden Eagle restaurant is a treasure that will not be here for long. Please let talk to John, sign the petition and keep this piece of beautiful history right where it is…

Came here for my wife’s Birthday, a 2h30min ride. Because its fall it made for an enjoyable ride, such beautiful scenery. Great food and an awesome view from where we sat outside on the balcony. Worth the ride.

The only thing better than the food was the view! Lobster was the best I’ve had since Neptune Oyster in Boston. Drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. Prime rib was a little on the fatty side, but would still get it again. The appetizer of the au gratin oysters was creamy and warming. 10/10 recommend. Service was excellent!
