One of our absolute favorite places for a special occasion! Danielle took excellent care of our group of 6 this past weekend making a birthday dinner very special. Thank you Kennebec team and Danielle! The food is always SUPERB, the drinks potent and tasty, and the overall ambiance and vibe cannot be found in Durango or any of our surrounding areas. This time, noteworthy menu items were the flatbread, grilled octopus, charcuterie board, Filet with shrimp topping, and EVERY PASTA is always a heaping portion and overall incredible! THANK YOU AGAIN, you are our favorite.

As a Cajun chef with a passion for culinary exploration, my first visit to Kennebec Café truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that effortlessly combined a contemporary design with a cozy, intimate feel. The experience was elevated by the incredible service provided by the bartender, Ben, whose expert craft and friendly demeanor immediately made me feel right at home, as well as the talented chef, Miguel, whose culinary creations left a lasting impression.
To set the stage for our dining experience, the carefully curated music played softly in the background, creating an ambiance that perfectly complemented the inviting decor. I started my meal with the peaches-and-arugula flatbread, and it was nothing short of a masterpiece. The flatbread was baked to a delightful crispness, while the sweetness of the ripe peaches harmonized beautifully with the peppery bite of the fresh arugula. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavor, showcasing the chef’s attention to detail and commitment to using high-quality ingredients.
For our main course, we opted for the halibut and salmon entrees. Both dishes were presented artistically and tasted divine. The halibut was flaky and perfectly seasoned, while the salmon was rich and succulent, cooked just right to bring out all its natural flavor. Accompanying these entrées was a side of broccolini that was vibrant and bright green, cooked to perfection to maintain its crunch and freshness. Each bite was flavorful, reflecting the chef’s skill and respect for the ingredients.
I can’t stress enough how impressed I was with the entire dining experience at Kennebec Café. It truly is a gem of a restaurant that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional meal. Living only five miles away feels like a blessing, as I know I’ll be returning frequently to savor more of what this fantastic establishment has to offer. What a wonderful find during my recent move to Durango as empty nesters! yes, I made new reservations for my 28th wedding anniversary coming up as well!

The Kennebec genuinely has some of the best food we have ever tasted. We have been all over the United States, to Europe, South and Central America, and more, and we seek out good food. The food here is consistently phenomenal, and it competes for some of the best dishes we have ever had. Meals are well balanced with a protein, carb and vegetable, and all aspects of the plate are incredibly tasty and compliment the whole meal well. Props to the chef and kitchen staff! The service also matches the environment. You are never rushed. Appetizers come out with ample time to enjoy prior to entrees. All servers have had great wine pairing recommendations, and the desserts are also incredible.

Absolutely outstanding meal and experience! My wife and I had visited a year ago today for our wedding anniversary dinner and had one of the best meals in a very long time. We chose to return this year, and our visit tonight lived up to our expectations and then some.
Our server, Ben, is as good as they come. Even though we aren’t Mercedes-driving folks (give us our Subaru any day!), Ben treated us like VIP royalty, all while being the kind of guy that probably would have joined us for a drink if we’d asked him to. Fantastic guy all around.
Unsurprisingly, the meal was wonderful. The flatbread app was delicious. For entrees, my wife had the pork and I had the NY strip. Both were cooked to perfection and exceptionally flavorful. The chef’s palate for flavor pairings is bar none. Who would have thought that glazed sweet potatoes and lentils would be so delicious! We finished the meal with their carrot cake which was moist and decadent.
To say we will be back does not do this place justice. We treasure the two experiences we have had and are already looking forward to next time.

Food is “ok “and wait staff is great the problem with this once wonderful place lays where it begins the owner. Though Miguel is a very nice super easy to communicate with person on the other hand his wife Barbra the co owner has GOT to be the ABSOLUTE rudest meanest miserable shell of a person you will ever meet in your life I’ve met bill collectors judges and every other possible position known to man and no one tops how rude and unprofessional this lady is. This place has so much potential and yet it’s held back due to utter HATE that’s given out by this awful woman if the grinch was a real person this lady would be the top candidate her personality has this word appalled !!

Great ambience, decor and food. Friendly staff. Told us about the intervention of the present owner Barbara and their redevelopment of a motel into this great restaurant 21 years back. Went to hike didn’t expect to find this beautiful place nestled amongst the pretty scenery. Amazing experience. Food was great. Took all our tire away.

WORST FOOD OF MY LIFE. Everything tasted absolutely terrible. I went to eat with my family of 10 and none of us ate more than 2 bites here. Absolutely disgusting. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOU WANT TO GAG. also extremely expensive but that was the least of our worries. GROSS GROSS GROSS. I have never been to a worse restaurant.

Was in town visiting my parents with a friend & they took us here. Amazing food! High quality food. It was pricey but worth every penny. My dad got the lamb chops & loved it! My friend, who is a foodie got the rib eye & said it might have been the best he’d ever had. It was my friend’s birthday so they brought him free champagne & we got a piece of lemon mousse cake to celebrate. All 4 of us shared one giant piece of cake. We were all blown away at how good the cake was. I’m not a cake guy & it was the best I’ve ever had. Also, our waitress was amazing. She was phenomenal. And lastly, the complimentary bread was so good. This place was really that good.
