I was in Lawrenceville and decided to venture to La Citadelle Bakery based on the reviews and for the name. IYKYK. There were 2 young gentlemen inside and they greeted me. I asked about their patés. They said they had chicken, aransò/hareng, beef, morue/cod fish. I asked for 1 chicken 1 hareng since they did not have morue. 10 minutes later he tells me that they don’t have hareng. Only chicken and beef. So I got 2 chicken. Overall the paté tasted good with a generous amount of filling inside. The crust was flaky but the paté was not hot nor warm. Not good
I ordered a fried turkey with diri djon djon. All meals come with salad and 1 fried plantain. Yes ONLY 1. I paid about $27 for the meal and patés. I also asked whether they had freshly made juices. I was told they are in the fridge/cooler by the door. They have korosol, grenadia and limonad. I got passion fruit and it was ok. It needs a bit of ésans to take it over the top.
I was beyond shocked when I opened the container and saw that there were 3 pieces of turkey in the plate with lots of diri (see pic). I have never in my adult life ordered haitian food where they served 3 pieces of meat (regardless of the size of the meat). There’s usually a balance. When I asked the young man whether the meal comes with 3 pieces. He tells me Yes. JAMAIS!!!! I understand overhead expenses may be high but that is bad for business. This is why Haitian restaurants and businesses don’t succeed because we want to charge high prices for food that don’t match. Yes, the food was tasty, yes the turkey was tender, warm not hot, but $20 meal with 3 pieces and 1 banan…unacceptable!

I was in the area and notice this restaurant. my first time going to this place and last time. I paid $54 for 2 plates of fried turkey that wasn’t fully fried a side of white rice and black beans, a Haitian pattie and 2 Haitian soda. When I arrived home, and open the plate. I literally was given 2 piece of meat on each place for $18 each plate. This restaurant is scamming folks out their money. I advised you to just keep driving when you are in the mood for a Haitian restaurant, or take a drive to Stone Mountain to get good quality food for your money. Very disappointed, never again in my life will i ever step there again.
Part 2 update: I just called to speak to the owner or supervisor, I was told no owner or supervisor is there but lil young high school kids working there when I went earlier. And now I’m on my way back to get a full refund. The white rice and black beans was extremely oily my toddler refused to eat it. The plantain isn’t cooked, the only thing in the entire plate was decent was the salad. After reading the reviews everyone complaining about the same issue. OVER PRICED and gives SMALL PORTION of food like we’re a children’s . I work hard for my money and I will not allow anyone to scam me. I live in Miami,Fl half of my life and now I’m recently visiting Georgia. To witness how this restaurant is scamming the residents in lawrenceville, GA is such an ashamed. This place needs to get shut down.

I stopped by today and purchased Pattie, rice and stewed turkey. The food was amazing! I bought 4 then went back and bought 6 more patties at a great price. I’ll give them a 6 star if I could. I’ll highly recommend this place—try the beef pattie. The rice was amazing and the meat is amazing! I have been to 5 different Haitian restaurants and none compares to this place, believe me. I am definitely coming back!

This company has gone through a lot of changes over the years, I’ve seen a lot of turnover with the staff but my experience this past weekend with their son, told me I’ve supported them enough. The food is a hit or miss. Some days it’s good and some days you’re taking a chance. But the son was so rude last weekend that I was even courteous enough to call to talk to the owner and tell him about my experience but he wasn’t there, someone named Elijah Louis answered and he sounded like I was bothering him with my complaint. That experience did not help either. I have a very low tolerance for disrespectful service, so it’s important to bring awareness about business like this so you can make a conscious decision as to whether they deserve your business, customers should not be treated with disrespect or be taken for granted. Businesses who do not appreciate us should not receive our businesses anymore. The food is decent but the service should be better, especially considering they’re not a new restaurant, they’ve been around long enough to know better. The prices keep going up but the quality hasn’t. We deserve better.

On a weekend visit to Georgia, a friend took me to La Citadelle Bakery to order some authentic Haitian Pates. On Friday, I ordered 2 dozen Chicken to share with the host family, and with just one bite, my “gustatory bud” was hit with a highly seasoned, full of taste, and well-spiced elation and fell in food lust. I devoured a few filled with ample moist and juicy fillings of beef, chicken, and morue that was infused with a blend of aromatic and flavorful seasonings. I shared some with several friends, and within minutes, they were consumed. On Saturday, I was back for two more dozen, and they were even more delicious, and my taste buds were captivated. Knowing I soon would be returning home, before I hopped on that flight, I ordered 6 baker’s dozen to haul back to Chi-Town and instructed the cashier that I had to find a way for me to order and send express to my home. Undeniably, the best pates in my 50+ years of experiencing the Haitian food culture (Sorry mama, but they slightly had an edge with their savory baked fluffy, flaky, crispy golden brown exterior crust that was buttery, light, and airy in texture). I also loved their hearty soup joumou, Rice and bean sauce, turkey, pikliz and fried plantains.
The staff (Rose) was friendly, attentive, accommodating, and efficient. She took my contact info to make the Fed-Ex delivery happen. Prices were moderate to slightly pricey, but considering the food is well prepared with authentic Haitian spices and provides a positive sensory experience, I don’t dare complain. Wish you had a restaurant in the Chicago area!

I ordered lalo, white rice, bean sauce and legume, white rice with bean sauce. The food was a 10/10. Th fried plantains were soft and crispy with lots of flavor. The Haitian patties (beef and herring-fish) were amazing as well. My only recommendation is to buy large not a medium platter because they give more meat. I bought the medium platter so I didn’t get so much meat.
The bottled soursap fruit juices that are found in the cooler to the right are amazing. I wish they sold gallons of these drinks. My husband and I would definitely buy some weekly for the house. Best Haitian food in Georgia so far. The food is always fresh and yes there are always people purchasing throughout the day. A key sign that the food is amazing. My husband drove from Tennessee and he is Nigerian craving the food and the drinks. This restaurant has represented the Haitian culture with great culinary excellence. I hope there are plans for expansion in the future.

I was in the area I used to live around so I figured Id go to my favorite lil haitian spot in GA. I ordered 3 plates of food for $55-$60 One for me, another for a friend and another for the next day. Im disappointed to say but the quality use to be consistently excellent. Today I was disappointed. The sauce I was served was straight oil. I used to feel confident about coming here for a consistent experience but as of current I was embarrassed to present this to a friend. The sauce is predominantly oil. This is what makes the food. If the sauce sucks the entire experience is ruined. The bunan peze was good. I accept the rice even though its not made with real d’jon d’jon. They use the liquid which is packed with sodium but now that the sauce is straight oil, this isn’t a hearty healthy experience like it use to be. Im sorry Rose but you gotta do better.
