Gloria’s Mexican Restaurant in Sun Prairie is an absolute gem! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by beautiful, vibrant murals that make the entire place feel warm, welcoming, and full of culture. The atmosphere alone puts you in a great mood.
But the real star here? The steak tacos. Hands down some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The meat is perfectly seasoned, tender, and tastes truly authentic, just like you’d hope for from real Mexican cooking. Every bite is packed with flavor, and you can tell they take pride in doing things the right way.
If you’re looking for a place with amazing food, friendly vibes, and gorgeous artwork on the walls, Gloria’s is definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend!
They charge for more than 1 basket of chips and the basket was very skimpy. The large margarita was $19 which wasn’t displayed on the menu. My chimichanga was burnt and hard, and my rice was really overcooked. And the waitress didn’t really come around much to refill waters.
We were very disappointed to say the least and we won’t be back. It really sucks to spend your money on something that sucks, especially right now. We came here for dinner tonight for the first time in years. It used to be so good that there was always a long wait. We now know why we were seated immediately – it was awful. Everything was way overpriced and they seemed like they’re trying to be upscale and pretentious.

Stepping into Gloria’s feels like a mini-vacation to a vibrant Mexican cantina. The restaurant is a riot of color, with lively murals and festive touches like mariachi hats, creating a cheerful and inviting atmosphere. It’s a cozy spot. The overall vibe is casual and relaxed, perfect for a family dinner or a low-key evening with friends.
The heart of Gloria’s lies in its commitment to authentic Mexican cuisine. Many reviewers praise the food for its genuine flavors, even comparing it favorably to Mexican food they’ve enjoyed in other regions.
A popular standout are the tamales, which come highly recommended in a few varieties. Other frequently lauded dishes include the flavorful carnitas and steak tacos and the cheesy enchiladas.
Don’t miss out on the rich and complex Mole sauce, which is often highlighted as excellent.
The menu is quite varied, offering a good selection of both classic Mexican dishes and options like fajitas, including a vegetarian version.
For those seeking vegetarian choices, you’ll find dedicated options, and the kitchen is reportedly accommodating with dietary restrictions like gluten-free and vegan requests.
I ordered the fish tacos, which were exquisite. This paired with the rice and beans made the dish go above and beyond. I also ordered the fresh guacamole on the side. They made it perfectly and also included tomatoes and onions. Beautiful.
I also ordered the steak fajitas. The peppers and onions were sauted to perfection. Amazing and flavorful. I plan to return multiple times to experience each and every dish.
I’m hooked.
Gloria’s made me a true fan of their food upon the very first time. Cool, clean, chill atmosphere. Plus, our waitress was cool and chill. Anyone in the area, or not in the area, has to come to this zesty restaurant at least once. If you don’t try this place at least once, you’ll forever contemplate your existence. Wow, I love this place!!
I started with my favorite drink, Michelada and I was not disappointed. It’s difficult to find a good tasting michelada, but they did a good job. I was glad to see that they had an entire section for vegetarian items on the menu. I tried their two vegetarian tacos and I really liked them both. I liked the different toppings on both tacos and the flavors. However, they were a bit smaller than I expected. I would love to go back here and try more items on their menu!
Also the waitresses will stare at you and laugh while this happens.
