So I stopped in for a quick Italian throwback hit… a Sfogliatelle and some pistachio gelato and ended up getting a couple of Pinolate cookies too… well the service is always great but the gelato didn’t even taste of pistachio… and the Pinolate cookies were raw! $39 a pound and uncooked! Never again!

I was looking for Italian cookies for a team meeting and stumbled on Mozzicato De Pasquale Bakery in Middletown. O.M.G! THIS is exactly what I was looking for.
The store and foods are incredibly beautiful. There was so much to choose from. Every seemingly imaginable Italian sweet awaits you.
If I had more time I would have grabbed an espresso and table to enjoy some of my purchases.
Team member, Lauren, was very responsive, pleasant, and easy to work with, answering my questions.
When I arrived at the meeting, half my team said, “no way, you got Mozzi’s?!?!?!” The platter and pignoli cookies were a definite hit. I’ll be sure to go back, sooooon!!!

Was really looking forward to some great pastries till it blew up in our face. We ordered a cream puff, and when I bit into the dough it was hard as a rock. Kid you not I tapped it on my table. I was very disappointed.

First of all, it makes no sense for the owner to not put the names on the glass next to the pastries so we know what everything is just because it looks fancy without it? I only ordered 2 things because I wasn’t going to be asking the cashier what every single thing was. That’s a waste of time and saliva. Secondly, I got a chocolate chip cookie dipped in chocolate and it was disgusting and tasted like plastic and it was so expensive too. I paid $4 for a cookie that I had to throw in the trash because of the old and chemical smell. I DO NOT recommend this place at all.

The smell alone, when you walk in, is amazing. Such a large selection of cookies and pastries and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There’s something for everyone here.

Reading the good reviews here, I had high hopes and ended up disappointed. On the plus side, the store is spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. There were large selection of cookies and sweet treats. Now the downside: The pastry we ordered were super sweet, as if you are biting into a sugar dough. Also I felt they have been sitting there for a long period of time that have lost its freshness. Another thing it could improve is that putting a label in each of the items would help the customer to know what they order.

If you read no reviews, this is the one to read. Picked up the nastiest cake I have ever had. Paid over $35 for a rotten fruit cake. But that’s not the bad part. Approached the staff and manager on the phone very politely asking for a refund. The manager tells me I need to drive to them again, 30 minutes away, and bring the cake and prove that there was something wrong with it, because there was just no way that he could fathom they sold me a rotten cake. Then laughs on phone when I tell him thats a ridiculous ask (gas and time). I offered photo proof not only of the rotten fruit, but of the fact that everyone who tried it threw it in the trash, but he stated that would nto suffice. No accountability, no customer service, and too much audacity. He needs a new job and they need to be investigated by the health department. Ruined our birthday celebration because no one, not even the children, could stomach the grainy and rotten mess.
And just a note for the photos, those strawberries are supposed to be fresh… not cooked. They’re old and tasted horrid.

Find yourself another bakery. Everything is stale and overpriced. You will end up throwing it all out and basically throwing away your money. They sell you what has been sitting in their glass case for weeks and the cream filling is as hard as a hockey puck. It has happened several times to me and others that I know. They are not what they use to be when they had one shop in hartford. They have expanded to half a dozen shops now and they must mass produce and nothing is fresh anymore.

Just went there yesterday and picked up some goodies. Was very good this visit.
Mozzicato is a multi location Italian bakery. Been going there for over 35 years (at least the location in Hartford)
This location is one of the newer ones and I believe they’re still working out the kinks. Been here several times with mixed experiences.
This time we got some cookies for the kids and some cakes for the family. All very good. The service was excellent this time. It was almost at closing and two young ladies were working there. One of the ladies helped the customers before us. The second lady helped us. They’re very friendly, answered questions and Overall very helpful.
Edit: went back for Mother’s Day to pick up if you items. The service was a bit off today. The lady working there didn’t seem very pleasant or helpful but the baked goods were excellent.
