Upon entering you are immediately greeted with smiles and the smell of fresh coffee brewing behind the counter.
The decor has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Vintage inspired pieces, wooden accents, rustic aesthetics, tin paneling, mason jars, a barn door at the rear of the diner that slides open to more seating that is quieter and intimate.
Carmen, the owner, is a pillar of the community. She is a strong smart businessman woman with a warm and caring personality. Likewise, her staff is friendly and respectful.
Carmen also has a very supportive family that contributes to the success of her diner.
Carmen’s Diner offers a variety of many different food options including gluten free dishes.
From omelettes and biscuits ‘n gravy to cheeseburgers and paninis. Coffee is priced at .99 cents. Enjoy a cup with a sweet treat or two!
There is a tv for your entertainment and a Grab ‘N Go section near the front door for when you cannot sit down to eat. The bathrooms are clean and there is free parking on the street and in a near by open lot.
I highly recommend Carmen’s Diner.
The food is delicious and the crew is very hospitable.
This place is a must visit!
Walking in, you’re delightfully greeted to either examine their fresh cold prepped food for the Fast, Grab & Go, or even their hot shelf (which is usually packed on Weekdays, though there’s a possibility if warranted, Weekends also) which boast plenty of space for those who want something hot and fresh, ready for the on the go crowd. They also offer dining in if you so prefer (I did so), which has alot of seating from front to back, tables or even the front with blue rotating cushion stools. Once seated, you are given many options from their menu, breakfast, lunch, sides and even desserts! The staff are very patient and courteous as you examine what you’d like to eat. Casey Hanes was my server for the early morning and had done a excellent job in helping me, answering my questions and making me feel like apart of a family with her nice spirit. I had ordered lunch… at 6 A.M. and would you know it, they Do indeed serve lunch all during their business hours! I had me a classic, Bacon Cheesburger with Fries (No tomato).
After ordering, I had done some investigation, and came upon a nice little board above their juice machine, which has 3 short, yet inspiring quotes by the owner and staff. (Last pic) Casey had told me about the quotes, first from top to bottom is the owner, Carmen Gallegos, who said “Hear Me Out” which in itself, is a short story since she also runs ANOTHER locally owned business “La Parilla Caliente” an authentic Hispanic food restaurant. (Which you should Also check out!) This quote is not only hopeful, but inspiring in that not only does she have a successful locally owned business here in Bremen, but she has taken on the daunting task of opening another restaurant, focused mostly on a more American Cuisine, with some inspiration from La Parilla.
Next is Casey Hanes herself, with “I Have a Vision” showing the fire that sits inside her, ready to enact and progress the vision she has inside for Carmen’s Diner and it’s future as a food business here in town.
Lastly is from Blanka, with “Yes, Yes, YES” which shows her enthusiasm and confidence in this diner and its future.
With these 3 quotes, you get quite an inspiring, heartwarming, challenging yet hopeful story for the diner and its future.
Back to my dining experience, the wait really wasn’t A wait, or well, it was but nothing in comparison to the vast amount of my dining experiences akin to diners like Carmen’s. Give or take, roughly 5-ish minutes and my food was done! Like I asked, no tomato was on said Bacon Cheeseburger. I was offered mustard or mayonnaise, but declined because of preference at the moment, but it was appreciated! Upon eating my freshly made burger, it was very enjoyable. I’m a foodie, and despite my inspection of said Bacon Cheeseburger, it packed quite a happy punch of flavors that you would expect from it. The Bacon was perfect, not too crispy and not to soggy, burger patty wasn’t overdone or dry, rather moist and done right. Onions were freshly chopped and topped with fresh lettuce. Ending it all with a nice toasted bun, creating a complete yet satisfying All American Bacon Cheesburger. Fries were also splendid, though I’m a pepper nut so I added some pepper for myself, but without it, the fries were crispy golden brown, just how I like ’em.
To cap my LONG thought, it was a pleasant experience dining in at Carmen’s Diner. It felt like home, where one can be themselves and hungry 😉 I had thanked the cook for my food, and walked out happier than I came.
If you would, PLEASE visit this diner, give it a chance and let Carmen prove herself to you, that she not Only has got it with Hispanic food, but also American Dining Cuisine! Support this local business at all cost, please and thank you!
