We had a wonderful experience at Restaurante Bom Pesqueiro as a family. The waiter – Daniel – was so helpful. The fresh fish was absolutely delicious, and so were the sides and starters. The whole team was so kind with our 2 year old son, they gave him a high chair, pencils and colouring books. The local wine selection was also impressive. Our best dinner overall in the city !

One of our tour guides recommended this restaurant to us, and it turned out to be a lovely choice. It’s located near the harbor, with a great view of the sea, and right across the street we could see many people swimming, which added to the atmosphere.
For food, we tried the local limpets—it was our first time having them, and they were quite good. We also ordered shrimp and fish cakes, both of which were delicious. The waiter recommended a variety of fresh fish, but unfortunately, we weren’t very hungry that evening, so we didn’t order any. Hopefully, we’ll get the chance to try them next time.
The service was also very pleasant. The staff were friendly and polite, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, it’s a really nice restaurant with good food, great service, and a beautiful setting.

The best fish (Viola/barred hogfish) that we have ever had! They take you to the window where all the fish are hanging and explain what each one is and its flavor profile before you choose what to eat. It was prepared over a grill, giving it gorgeous, succulent, tender flavor. The sides (cauliflower with butternut squash and sweet potato terrine) were both phenomenal. The local cheese with pumpkin jam is also excellent! Would highly recommend for fresh, local fish, with a menu that changes based on what the fishers catch.

We ate here several times while in Ponta Delgada. The fish is fresh and well prepared — we tried offshore rockfish, imperial blackfish, parrotfish and tuna, all excellent. Starters like limpets, octopus and cod cakes are also worth trying. The Portuguese wine list is extensive, including local Azorean volcanic terroir options. Staff is welcoming, explaining the menu everytime, highlight the daily specials. It can get busy on weekend nights.

Be aware – this must be a scam. There’s zero connection between the burnt overpriced fish we got, and the reviews here.
Our experience was bad. Really bad. The main dish — grilled amberjack — was unfortunately cooked way too long (see photo) which left it dry.
The starters were mixed: the fish soup was not quite as flavorful as versions we tried elsewhere, while the fish cakes were “ok”.
The biggest problem, however, was the service. It was shockingly poor. Diogo, who appeared to be the manager on duty, set the tone — dismissive, inattentive, and unprofessional. For a restaurant charging these kinds of prices, that level of service is simply unacceptable. Given the bad service, we spoke with the owner – Nuno – who was even worse. Seriously – something bad is happening here.
This is an expensive place. You expect much more then. Especially with such wonderful ingredients at their disposal, there’s definitely potential here. We just felt the execution could have been better on this visit. Go elsewhere.

What a great experience! Food is fantastic and unbelievable service. We had tuna tartare, which was the best i have ever tried. There were many fish options which is prepared very simple way – just olive oil and spices. For all fish dishes you get to pick two sides. Fish was delicious and very well prepared. True 5 stars experience. Daniel is a true legend.

An amazing restaurant with fresh seafood and daily catches.
