Ted and his work partner worked well together, and they both were attentive. Interesting that neither of them knew the “guest” wifi password. Ted told me the password, and the other guy showed me the password, maybe I just got it wrong?
Generally the food was excellent, especially the fries, big thick cut, cooked perfectly. We loved the coleslaw. The mac n’cheese was good, maybe not great, and I thought a little overpriced, in all fairness it was a generous serving. I took the excess home.
My wife thought the brisket had too much fat in the slices, we shared the per pound meal. I’m not referring to the bark, but the inner slices. I might suggest a better quality cut, maybe “supreme cut”, and share the higher cost with customers. The taste was great!
We all, or most of us, might have too much around our waist, so a cut with less internal fat could be a good option.
Maybe Smokin’ Jack’s would consider touching base with Motor (@ Harley Davidson) or Double BB’s (in Greenfield) to learn where they get their meat! Those are two premier brisket purveyors in the area.
Overall atmosphere was great with a large bar and lots of TVs to watch sports.
Will be back!
Co-worker ordered rib tips, brisket, potato salad, mac/cheese, cornbread, BBQ punch.
I ordered ribs, chicken thighs, french fries, mac/cheese, cornbread, glass of wine.
Co-workers plate came out with my french fries on her plate and her potato salad on my plate. It was fine for US because we were splitting everything, but I thought the error was worth noting for a guest who would not appreciate that.
4 stars for service because the server wasn’t well versed with the happy hour menu. Otherwise, she was super nice, took good care of us and had a nice balance between giving attention to everyone in the room.
4 stars for food because the first round of mac/cheese wasn’t great for either plate and the chicken thigh was kind of dry. The ribs/rib tips were really good & the potato salad was solid. Unexpectedly, the brisket, the french fries and the cornbread were the stars of the show! The brisket had that tendernism and we couldn’t stop eating the fries/cornbread. Try the BBQ punch!
Best part of the visit was the manager stopping by to ask us how everything was. After telling her that the mac/cheese was so-so and that the chicken could’ve been better, she brought out new product for us to try. They blew us away! The mac/cheese was creamy, cheesy, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The chicken thigh was tender, well cooked and had great flavor. After experiencing the products the way that they should be, I can confidently say that I would get any of the items that we ordered again. She definitely saved the day on that note.
Only other stain on my visit is the undisclosed $6 upcharge for ribs with the combo plate. The mac/cheese upcharge is displayed on the menu. Why isn’t this displayed or conveyed to the guest by the server? Nobody likes a surprise charge!
Overall, my co-worker & I definitely appreciated the solid BBQ, sides & attentive customer service. We will definitely visit the restaurant again!
Wings: Perfect in my book. They were a good size & portion. They were of good quality. Perfectly meaty, not fatty or rubbery like some other wing places. The Competition Sauce was great. Kind of Jerk chicken like but not exactly. Best I can describe but the sauce was thick & perfectly crusted in the right places. I’m a big dude & it filled me up pretty good. I definitely felt satiated.
The Mac was good too. Nice portion. A good crusty top with a melty under belly. I saved half of it. I was full.
Cornbread: A good ending to a great Sunday lunch. I saw peach cobbler on the Ubber menu but not the Toast & that’s just a suggestion that I would throw my money at that also.
