Discovered this Italian restaurant adjacent to the Renaissance Hotel Richardson.
The Dart station is nearby for travel to downtown Dallas to the south or Plano to the North ( end of the line).

Had a terrific dinner for four. The bar is well stocked and easy to sit at.
There is outside and patio seating.

The atmosphere is welcoming and the red decor is breathtaking.

They have live music too.

We started off with mixed drinks and wine choices.

First service was soft buttery rolls with a dipping sauce of extra virgin olive oil infused with garlic, herbs , and feta cheese.

Ordered a small cheese pizza as appetizer for four. One of the most delicious pizzas I’ve tasted.
House Salad with delicious homemade vinaigrette

Main course choices were:

Lasagna Bolognese
Tortellini Di Formaggio
Eggplant Rollatini
Stuffed mushrooms with crab, shrimp, and brandy tomato cream sauce.

Dessert :
Tiramisu
Crème Brulee

If you love Italian food and fine dining in a romantic setting, this is your place.

Servings are ample and take home is encouraged.

I definitely recommend this restaurant,
See you there soon!

Porta di Roma already had me with the amazing food and service, but what truly set them apart was how intentional and thoughtful they were in helping my fiancé plan his wedding proposal.

From the moment we arrived, the entire team was genuinely excited to be part of the celebration. You could feel the joy and care they put into every detail. The cake alone said everything, the flower design was so beautifully done and showed just how much effort and heart they put into being part of our story.

Our server, Janna, was absolutely amazing, attentive, warm, and so supportive throughout the entire experience. We also had another male server who was wonderful as well (I didn’t catch his name), but truly the entire staff was attentive, kind, and on point.

And just to be clear, this isn’t proposal happiness talking, lol. I felt this way about Porta di Roma even before the proposal. The presentation, the service, the food, everything was thoughtful, intentional, and done with care.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in such a special moment for us. We’ll never forget it

The food is literally traditional Italian like you can see the olive oil. The food is well made and served hot. Some of the dishes felt like they needed more but the comfort food like the name escapes me but a fried cheese appetizer with a yellowish sauce was delectable. The service was friendly and personal. The waitress checked in multiple times and gave recommendations well. The only thing is. I do believe the restaurant needs a more modern touch whether by updating the music selection or adding some art as it realms into somewhat the stereotypical as what u think of when u think of an Italian restaurant. I will give it credit that every song played sounded like it was in Italian. I also think the drink menu needs an update. Bare minimum show the price of the drinks. (Just a personal suggestion because anytime I see a menu that doesn’t show prices it deters me- past experience trauma)

Fine dining adjacent. For the location it is shockingly nice! We went for a work lunch and all came out particularly impressed. Great prices and good serving sizes. Lunch comes with a soup or salad. The Caesar was excellent!

I ordered pasta, which came with soup and a piece of bread. The pasta itself was quite rich; I was full after eating half of it, so I took the other half with me home for dinner. The waitress also gave us good service.

Visited this place on Saturday about 7 at night to have a beer and watch the rest of the Longhorns came. Really didn’t think I was going to eat anything until some other folks at the bar got some food that smelled fantastic. Ended up ordering the Manicotti and a small pizza. Both were fantastico! Our server/bartender/comedian was Gabby. He did a great job keeping us entertained, got our food out fast and kept the drinks full. Highly recommend the Espresso Martini! And whatever the pink drink made with Luxardo cherry syrup, vodka and an orange peel was!

The Pizza has a crisp crust but not cracker thin. Lots of gooey cheese and great sauce. Same with the Manicotti – the red sauce that comes with it is fantastic. Don’t skip this place. Go check em’ out!

Portions are a good size so you leave full. The wait staff are very friendly and really cater to what you want. There was live music which added to the atmosphere. And service was timely – no longer wait for anything. The food was delicious. They have a nice bar to eat or get a drink. Overall a great place for a nice dinner out.

I’ve lived in Richardson for three years, and if you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine, Porta Di Roma is the place to go. Whether you’re heading to a nearby show or hosting family at the Renaissance Hotel, it’s the perfect spot.

As someone who lives and works in the vicinity, this has become my go-to restaurant. The service is consistently exceptional. Terry is professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and always offers excellent recommendations. Gabriel (“Gabby”) crafts outstanding drinks — honestly, one is all you need — and his humor and charisma make the experience even more enjoyable.

What truly sets Porta apart is the owner, Brilliant. He is present more often than most owners I’ve encountered, personally introducing himself, asking about your meal, and engaging in genuine conversation. There’s a warmth here that’s hard to find. The atmosphere feels less like a restaurant and more like a family — and if you ask them, they’ll proudly tell you, “We are family.”

Off menu ribeye steak is fantastic. 20oz. We shared it. It comes with a side. You can’t go wrong. Wow. I wish I had known about this sooner. The presentation is very nice. It is served on a large, heavy butcher block. We select the vegetables, some of the best vegetables I’ve had. I never thought I recommend the steak at an Italian restaurant, but I am. I love the Italian food here, but I just found out about the ribeye tonight.

We had a late afternoon meeting and decided to visit this restaurant. It was after the lunch rush. We ended up getting drinks and dessert. First off, we had the best time interacting with the staff and owner (Briljant and Gabi). They were friendly and very attentive. The place was clean and great atmosphere. Then came the desserts. Please, please try the homemade chocolate mouse cake. It was delicious! I will definitely be back!
