There is no shortage of Mexican restaurants in San Antonio, and having been born and raised here I wouldn’t have it any other way, so I take pride in my list of favorites. Camacho’s is very close to the top of the list for me. From the complimentary chips and warm salsa to the wide variety of enchiladas, they need no notes, they know what they’re doing and they’re doing it perfectly. The enchiladas Camacho’s offers a great sampling of a few of their options and the creamy poblano is one of my new favorite things. It would be enough to stop there, but this spot also has an excellent cocktail menu and even a drive thru! Though I’ll probably never use it cause I can’t get enough of those chips and salsa. I will be coming back often.

First time I’ve ever had cheese enchiladas that had such little cheese I was questioning if they had forgotten to add it to the inside of the tortilla to begin with. The first inch on either side of the enchilada was just tortilla, and as you can see in the picture, the cheese was no thicker than my spoon was wide. Unacceptable for a cheese enchilada where you should get a nice mouthful of cheese with each bite. I tasted more tortilla than anything else, which was not good and had a very gritty, slightly undercooked texture. The sauce on top was not good either. My husband thought maybe we’d give it another try later with another dish, since the carne guisada he had was mostly gristle and inedible pieces, but once giving him a bite of the enchilada I had, he made up his mind right there that we’re never coming back. Rice was eh, beans were bland, salsa was lacking flavor and tasted heavily of cilantro. Service was wonderful!… despite the food quality. Nice atmosphere and plenty of seating just wish the food was better.

I had the two enchiladas, beef puffy taco with rice and beans and flour tortillas. The plate so good. My wife had the mole enchiladas and also she said they were so good. We are finishing our frozen margaritas which are also very good.
Our server, Jazmin is amazing and very professional and customer friendly.

I’m not going to lie my mom and dad did not enjoy thier meals at all. Said the food was mediocre but MEEEEEE I’ve been searching for a place with good mole and I’ve found it! I live in Houston but I will make that drive every time. I even bought a 8oz cup to bring home with me!

We found this nice place as a good option on the area for Mexican food with good taste. The service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is family friendly. We returned to this restaurant from a first time experience and we think we will be coming back to try out more items from their extensive menu. Good job!

We come back to give them another chance and it just keeps getting worse… took 30 min to make a small portion of nachos, staff is very slow and seems like they don’t care how busy it is, is there only 1 cook? 5 tables waiting on food for a long time, manager needs to step up there game. Last time coming back here. Not the employees fault either, they need a manager on duty keeping everyone in line.

Visited Camacho’s twice before reviewing because I wanted to give a well rounded review to include both drive thru and inside dining.
Let me begin by saying we went on a Saturday night after having enjoyed a massage (no happy ending) . I had been craving a soup and thought we’d give this place a go.
RESTAURANT: I love the patio- super cute, lots of personality! I love the inside of the restaurant- squeaky clean, nice & inviting vibes, plenty of space between tables, lovely decor, and a über cute cantina tucked in the corner. The do have a TV for those folks that can’t live without their LUCHA LIBRE!
STAFF: All the staff that we interacted with incredibly friendly and our server was highly attentive.
FOOD: Here’s where it gets tough for me and this is the part that I hate, for a split second, then remember I have to be true amd honest. Here goes. I ordered all the soups- YES, all the soups, small size of course. They offer three sizes, which I found super! I ordered the tortilla soup, which I found to be lack luster. It was lacking in depth, it does have lots of chicken, mostly dark, but not well flavored in my ultra humble opinion. 5/10. Next was my Menudo! Wait while i slurp what’s left my bowl and tip it to my face with no shame! Okay, 10/10! It was served piping hot with cilantro, onion, lime. It was so spectacular. I want to have that near spiritual experience all over again. All I needed was a mariachi and a Zárape to complete my experience! Hot dang that was a great well seasoned bowl of Menudo made by someone’s Abuelita, I am almost sure. Lastly for the soups was the Fideo Loco. It was good but not great. It was lacking depth of flavor but definitely better than the tortilla soup. 8/10
The crispy tacos are great! 10/10! Definitely a must try! Very tasty and beautiful presentation.
Green salsa is delish with a slight kick. 6/10.
Tortillas are ultra yummy! 10/10!
DRIVE THRU-The drive thru is well set up and staff is as kind. I did have to wait but didn’t mind considering the quality of food. It wasn’t a horrible wait. We a pint of refried beans to go and a taco. Order accuracy was great. Temperature of food was superb! My agua fresca was super cold on a hot day!

Wonderful family-owned restaurant with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious, and it’s easy to see why so many customers keep coming back. You can really feel the care and pride the family puts into everything they do. Highly recommended!

First time in. Came with the family. Not so busy @4-5pm. Very roomy. Clean and cozy atmosphere. Restrooms were clean and intertwining. Our waitress was very friendly. Thank you for a great experience. Theresa nice bar; simple,but nice. A TV to watch some sports. And a patio area to eat outside.Highly recommend this place for some good good Mexican food.
