The only downside was the number of kids running around. It got a bit distracting since some parents didn’t seem to be keeping them in check. Other than that, it was a great experience and I’d definitely go back.
The split pea soup was ok, but I feel that I am bias as I am very partial to my mommas.
The pork belly grilled cheese was great, just the bread was a little too toasted and stiff. Hard to bite into without scratching the roof of your mouth. Other than that, it was full of flavor and a great combination of aromas and textures.
They certainly had a great selection of food, simple and small, but that just means everything is fresh. They have menu specials that change which also makes it exciting.
If I were a local, I’d come back just to see what else they would create.
The chorizo was cut way too thick and had the texture of shoe leather, the portabella and onion needed herbs and seasoning ,bland ,and burnt on the edge ,the Johnny cakes were presented nicely but had the same issue ,the short rib topping was devoid of any real flavor,it tasted sterile.
Then came the main course ,my wife had the lobster risotto which was overcooked and tasted soapy according to her . Risotto should be on the more aldente side this was more like oatmeal.
My entree was the chicken schnitzel, the chicken was tough and pan fried in a low quality oil ,the edges were too well done and the chicken flavorless
The arugula topping was wilted and the caper sauce was nothing more than a thickened stock with no seasoning.
I returned the chicken and it was removed from the bill .I was very disappointed especially since this was a special night .
I for one will not be going back there , no matter what the other reviews say , it is definitely not worth the time and money.
