The food is fantastic, there’s care in every part of it. The appetizers are beyond fantastic and their presentation is gorgeous. I got the Unagi bowl and every part of the bowl was beautiful, delicious and considered. Even the rice was seaweed seasoned. The avocado was assembled into an adorable flower shape and was green and fresh, and the eel was soft and flavorful.
Just a really lovely experience all around, thank you.
We started by ordering drinks. My wife ordered some fruity drink (can’t remember what it was called) but said it wasn’t great. I got a beer and the house saki. The house saki was incredibly cheap for only $4, but after tasting I see why. Probably my least favorite saki I’ve ever had…and I’ve drank a lot of saki in my day.
After looking at the menu we realized this place is more geared towards sushi. We’re from Ohio where there are many hibachi places called “Wasabi” and they are all your traditional hibachi focused restaurants so just figured it would be similar. The hibachi menu was super limited. Only having 4 dishes to pick from. No filet or lobster options. Didn’t even have any combo dishes (ex steak and shrimp). In addition, they have noodle dishes but not for the hibachi dinners. Steamed rice was the only option.
I ordered the shrimp hibachi and my wife got chicken. My shrimp was ok. It had ok flavor, it just didn’t feel like it was cooked on a hibachi grill. Same with my wife’s chicken. To me it looked like the chicken was sliced up raw, marinated and cooked in a pan. She said it was meh. None of the meat had any type of sear on it. So between that and not having the cook there at the table it just didn’t feel like we were having hibachi.
I will say, the waitress was super friendly and did a good job at making sure we were taken care of. And to give props we’re they’re due, the presentation was very nice. Just underwhelming from a taste/texture standpoint.
Seeing as I don’t eat sushi I don’t really ever see myself coming here again. It’s a bummer because they have a great location right there on Dickson St.
Sosa, the chef, provided us with a delectable meal. Brandon’s food was beautifully plated, deliciously seasoned, and the steak was juicy and tender. My Bolgogi was mouthwatering. The first bite made my taste buds sing with joy. I must admit, I couldn’t wait to get home after the show we watched so I could eat my leftovers!
Zoey, our waitress, even went out of her way to put baseball on the t.v. for us to watch. It might not seem like much, but we deeply appreciated it!
2020- One of favorite sushi restaurants! Lunch is more affordable with the benti box options but dinner is easily split between 2 people. You really should try the sake hot!! Way better like that!
