After trying quite a few affordable omakase spots around NYC, I’d sau this is the best-value $69 omakase serving good quality, thick-cut sashimi.

We got exactly one hour to enjoy 13 courses—no fillers like apps, miso soup, or dessert—just nigiri and hand rolls. Despite the price point, they still serve premium ingredients like hokkaido scallop and caviar.

I thought I’d still be hungry after 13 courses, but the thick-cut slices of fish were so generous that I left completely stuffed and satisfied.

My favorite courses include:
*Botan ebi uni – the shrimp was meaty, and the uni melted in my mouth
*Hokkaido scallop with truffle sauce – rich umami from the truffle
*Chutoro with pickled wasabi – buttery with a subtle kick
*Seared otoro with caviar – torching cut through the richness, making it less greasy
*Negitoro hand roll – possibly the most generous hand roll I’ve ever had

Also, If you ever search “favorite budget omakase in NYC,” Shinn East always comes up. While interaction with the chef was minimal, the pacing was perfect and we never felt rushed.

Went to Shinn East for the sushi omakase and the food itself did not disappoint. The sushi was genuinely yum, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. My absolute favorite bite of the night was the eel with uni — rich, buttery, and perfectly indulgent. That course alone really stood out.

That said, while the food was strong, the service felt mediocre compared to what you’d expect from an omakase experience at this level. It wasn’t terrible, just lacked warmth and attentiveness, which slightly took away from the overall experience.

Still, if you’re going primarily for the sushi, especially creative pairings like the eel + uni, it’s worth checking out.

The omakase was absolutely delicious and so fresh. The flavors of everything worked incredibly well together, my favorite being lean tuna with yuzu radish. was not expecting a fatty tuna and caviar extra for my birthday but it was absolutely delicious. Our chef for the night was Alex and everything was done with such care and precision. I also really appreciate that they are pretty strict with start and end times. They will wait for a few minutes since it’s 4-6 people per chef, but they will start if you are not there, which was great. First time trying A5 wagyu and it was incredible.

Really good quality omakase and a great price. Defs a quick time frame as they turn over the tables in like 1 hr or 1.5 hrs. Decent size corse of 13 rolls and soo soo good. Defs a great spot. Loved the fatty tuna roll. Quality and service were both amazing- defs recommend

The omakase here was absolutely fabulous and delicious. The staff was super friendly, and the sushi chefs knew how to make sushi to say the least. For the price it is very worth it. Recommend going here when you don’t want to break your bank and receive great sushi and ambience!

Quality sushi spot, offering pickup or dine in. The atmosphere inside was nice but we ordered takeout. The everything don was phenomenal as well as the chu toro nigiri.
Only con was service: we got our food later than they had said it would be ready by (perhaps bc we got it at their opening at 2pm, despite gmaps stating it opened at 1), and they were not the friendliest about it.
Overall would come here again

We ordered the 13 course omakase ($69). Each piece was pretty good, with my favorite being the Hamachi, O-toro, and Hotate. However, I remember the sushi tasting better the first time I went (this is my second time), and I don’t think I would consider this to be above average in terms of my other omakase experiences. While the sushi pieces were good, I’ve had better at other places. For the price, it’s pretty good value but the taste is about average in terms of omakases. Overall, I would recommend trying at least once for the value, but I probably wouldn’t be back often.

The sushi was exquisite. The fish was fresh especially salmon. The omakase experience was amazing. We also had sake which paired well with sushi. We went for my birthday and they were kind enough to give a cute sushi cake. The place is tiny so it becomes a bit crowded even for 10 to 12 people at a time.

Good omakase spot, especially for 13 courses. All of the pieces were great, but notable ones were the fatty tuna, the scallop and the salmon one. Also, the sexy big mac add-on was absolutely just decadent, but it’s worth for a one-time try if you want to taste what combining a lot of fancy ingredients together is like.
