So they serve hot cumin water (please correct me if I am wrong) first which we thought was tea – but it set the precedence and expectation really high – we loved it. The expectations were only passed over – when they bought in BANCHAN set one by one and placed it in front of us to begin with – before the main course started over. The timings were spot on they really do care about giving that wholesome experience. We had ordered a BIBIMBAP the hot stone just drilled down on the vibe factor and mine personally was a Beef Bulgogi Bento which taste wise was heavens. The best part of it that I totally forgot about was it came with the side of egg drop soup which was sould refreshing.

You absolutely have to try the pork bulgogi here. Compared to other locations, the taste is on a completely different level. Even the sundubu jjigae and all the side dishes are flawless—every single bite is perfect. Honestly, it’s the best I’ve ever had, even compared to the sundubu and pork bulgogi I ate back in Korea for 33 years. The flavors here at the Oakbrook location are truly soul-filling and even cure my homesickness.
If you order both the sundubu jjigae and pork bulgogi, the price might feel a bit high, but it’s still way cheaper than a plane ticket to Korea—so it’s totally worth it!

Very delicious Banchan – kimchi and radish specially. No wonder the meals were tasty too! We had bibimbap tofu and chicken and a bento box. All three were amazing. There are multiple vegetarian options as well.

Food was great, service great, and overall just a great time. Not too expensive and very flavorful and was fast from order to table. Will be my number one Korean bbq place in the area or when I just want something different to eat. Nice night out! Thanks for the experience!

We met friends at SGD Korean Bento & BBQ for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon, and had a great experience. Even though it was crowded, we were seated right away, which was a great start. The servers were kind, attentive, and very helpful.
I especially appreciated our server pointing out that the stock was made with beef and letting us know we could request it be made with water instead. He also took the time to help us choose several vegetarian-friendly options, which made us feel really taken care of.
We shared the kimchi pancake, which was flavorful and satisfying, and each ordered our own bowls. My husband and I had ramen-based soup bowls, while our friends ordered the hot pots with rice. We all chose tofu except for my husband, who tried the mushroom option—he found it a bit tough and “meaty,” but still enjoyed the overall dish.
The food was very flavorful, portions were huge, and the prices were excellent. We even had leftovers to take home. Overall, a solid spot for a casual, satisfying meal, especially if you’re looking for good vegetarian options and great service.

The side dishes were good also I think free refill. The service was good. but the food sorry it was not good and not authentic I ordered. SEAFOOD SOONDUBU JJIGAE the shrimp was not cleaned inside only two piece of shrimp and four piece of oyster small one, soup was not tasty. It felt only water and a little bit of spices, green onions not broth. Also kimchi I’ve tested in other place. It was different so I did not like it.
Generally I think this is the first & last time
It’s not worth 30 dollar

My favorite SGD location. I have been coming to this place whenever visiting Chicago past 5 years. Foods are decent and staffs are wonderful. Korean would appreciate foods here because it tastes like home or better.

This place is awesome. The soondubu is delicious and received the approval of my Korean mother (which says a lot). You can choose your own spice level, but I’d highly recommend not going beyond the “regular” spice level. If you have little to no spice tolerance, just get it “plain”. Additionally, to get the full Korean experience, order your rice in the stone bowl. Overall, the food is tasty and authentic at a very reasonable price.

I visited this restaurant during lunch, and I was really impressed! It’s a franchise, but this location stands out — the food here is noticeably better and cleaner compared to other branches like Glenview and Schaumburg. The service was excellent too; both the server and the food runner were genuinely friendly and attentive. I often come to Oakbrook Center, and from now on, whenever I’m craving Korean food, this is definitely my go-to spot. Highly recommended!
