I ordered a burrito – chile de relleno. First time trying it and it was delicious!
Also, their red and green sauce seemed homemade and were so good. The green sauce has a great medium spice, while the red sauce was quite mild but has a yummy chipotle (I think – I’m no pepper expert) flavor.
They also handed me this prayer as I left (ordered for pick-up). I was a bit confused, and am an agnostic Buddhist myself, but I thought it was a warm touch.
My husband ordered a shredded beef burrito and specifically asked for no onions or cilantro because they make him sick. The burrito came with both, so he sent it back. They brought out a new one, but even that still had onions mixed in. He tried to pick them out but eventually had to stop eating it. The green sauce on top also didn’t have much flavor.
I ordered a chimichanga. The shredded beef itself had good flavor, but the red tomato sauce on top tasted more like plain canned tomatoes without seasoning. The rice and beans were okay but lacked flavor as well.
The highlights were the churros—and the chips and salsa.
It’s possible other items on the menu are better, but based on what we tried, we just didn’t love our meals.
Attentive, smiling servers.
Home made tortillas in the enchiladas!
Good salsas
1. Staff was and continues to be super friendly. This time around, the wait staff was more knowledgeable.
2. The portion to price ratio was a lot better and they take cards and cash now.
3. The food itself is good for what it is, being in the valley and all. Most valley white folk (especially SVR people) probably will think El Rodeo is the best.
All in all, it’ll work in a pinch. ♂️
100% recommended!
