Regent Bakery and Cafe is an Asian cafe serving a unique selection of baked goods, beverages, and traditional Hong Kong style Chinese food made with the finest ingredients. With our launch in Redmond since 2000, we have established a brand that is highly recognized by the local Asian American communities. In addition, our black forest cake became an illustration in the video game Portal as a reward cake due to a local game developers’ fondness for the cake.

Now they added a basque cheesecake, which is getting more popular.

The red-bean pastry was top-notch, buttery and wonderfully flaky. I will say it’s a bit disingenuous to leave the $1 tip automatically set on the pay screen hoping I wouldn’t notice it. Sorry I failed to notice what you actually did during my visit considering I picked up the pastry, walked it myself to the register and checked out with Apple Pay. I’m not sure a tip is warranted. Thanks.

Bought 4 egg tarts this past Saturday, along with 2 sponge cakes and a 6 inch taro cake. One family member ate one egg tart and ended up sick, throwing up and developing a rash. We think it may be salmonella food poisoning. In the shop, the egg tarts were stored behind an open-air display on the counter without any lids or doors, so maybe that was a contributing factor. We threw away the rest of the egg tarts. Not sure how I feel about the rest of the foods here now.

A small scaled Regent bakery which has no seating arrangements unlike the other locations. It offers coffee, tea along with the bakery items.

Coconut Peanut Mochi is very expensive. Especially their stuffing is on a very light side and the dough is very thick! There are not much peanut in the dough. Very disappointed it.

I’ve been coming to Regent Bakery & Cafe since I was a kid, and it’s still one of my all-time favorites. Their pineapple taro bun is ridiculously good. Soft and slightly sweet bread with stuffed fresh taro paste inside.
I always grab a couple when I stop by. The sponge cakes are light and fluffy.
I grew up eating their Black Forest cake too, which was a hit at so many birthdays. It’s one of those places that’s been part of my life for years, and now I’m so glad they are open in Issaquah.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re into Asian-style pastries and cakes.
