If I could give more than 5 stars for the service I would. I never write reviews, I’m not that passionate of a person, so for this restaurant experience to inspire this much emotion from me is very rare. This was one of the top two meals I’ve ever had in my life and the only one that tops is was $500 dollars more expensive and had worse service. Rafa was an absolute crack up and made every course so fun and described the food so vibrantly. I would genuinely love to be his friend, such a delightful guy! And then the food??? I almost started crying. As someone with celiac it’s rare for me to be able to eat everything on the menu and for it to all be satisfying, complex flavors has honestly not happened one time since my diagnosis. I used to love Mole and haven’t been able to find anywhere that I could eat it safely before coming here. I wish we were here longer so I could go back. I would have come back to San Miguel anyways, but this meal/experience alone would be worth flying across the globe. Please leave Rafa an extra large tip for us, we love him!

I stopped in here for dinner by myself the first night I was in SMA and it was lovely! I got the pasole which was very good and the beef tacos which were MOVING. Possibly the best tacos I’ve ever had and certainly the best ones I had on my whole trip. They came with a habanero hot sauce that was out of this world. Highly recommend for authentic but also slightly higher end Mexican fare.

Delicious food, fantastic service, great ambience. Unique dishes with authentic Mexican flavors that you won’t find anywhere else.

All the dishes are fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and well-presented. The staff is very attentive, but never overbearing. The space is intimate and cool, and makes you feel like you’re in-the-know of something special you want to keep secret.

¡Exquisito!

Incredible food. The best I’ve had In San Miguel. The brisket tacos, sopas, plantains were all amazing. Highly recommend. They are a little funny with reservations so call ahead.

This place is hands down the best in town.
The dishes are absolutely top-tier. Yesterday, we tried two new ones a pork mole and chicken with pipián both were outstanding. The host and chef go out of their way to ensure you’re enjoying your meal and are always ready with thoughtful suggestions. I highly recommend sitting downstairs to experience the open kitchen it adds a whole new level to the dining experience. I’m genuinely impressed by the quality and the way they treat every guest. Don’t miss this spot!

6⭐️!!! One of the best bites in all San Miguel! You MUST go to Agavia!!
The food from start to finish was exciting, interesting, and an absolute delight. The open kitchen allows you to see them construct beautiful and sophisticated dishes that wowed the senses! ❤️
These innovative dishes brought wonderful heritage and love to every dish. It felt like a Michelin experience. One of the chefs came to talk to us and he shared some of his story and history around the dishes. You can tell they truly care about the food and your experience.
A gluten free menu has NEVER been so good!! Definitely coming back for more!

I came here with a friend for a belated birthday bite, and we were so impressed. The menu is diverse, creative, and shows a variety of regional Mexican influences (due to the experience of the chef). It was great to find another place offering pulque and tepache in town! All Mexican wines – love to see this. So many moles!
We shared the barbacoa tacos and they were very yummy – tender meat, well seasoned, a nice hint of heat, everything very fresh. The service was delightful; our server had a good knowledge of the menu and dishes, and we want to come back and eat everything. An interesting dessert menu too!
They have a cozy indoor space that leads up up up and up to more seating, with the most beautiful view of the city at the top. We were there in time to watch the sunset and to enjoy the stars. There is limited seating on each level, so it feels very intimate, like you have a little space to yourselves.
We will be back soon, and I am telling everyone to come and check out Agavia.

Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic atmosphere. The food is local with a twist. The Abuela’s Mole is a must try for mole fans. A fantastic place for couples or small groups, although we arrived with a large group of 12. Not only were we able to be seated quickly, the staff still gave us a very personal experience. Our server provided great recommendations on their menu and also gave great explanations of the dishes. We had great discussions about the food and restaurant with the owner Jesus. The care he and his wife take in preparing the food and running the restaurant is apparent. Just fantastic.

The food at Agave is actually pretty good, but the experience overall didn’t match the price. Portions were surprisingly small for how expensive everything was. Drinks were also on the pricier side, and the bartender couldn’t explain anything on the menu—major language barrier, which made ordering a bit frustrating.

The part that really threw us off? They literally ran after us for a tip. If we enjoyed the service, we would’ve happily left one on our own. It just felt uncomfortable and unnecessary.

Overall: decent food, but overpriced, and the tipping situation left a bad taste. Not worth what they charge.
