I’ve been trying as many Green Chile Cheeseburgers as I can, and Santiago’s was top notch. The patty was juicy and seasoned, the bun was pillowy, and the green chile pieces were big and had a great smoky flavor. I enjoyed the way the diced onions, chopped lettuce, pickles and tomato all came together as well. Everything was really fresh.
The friendly family that greets you as soon as you walk in and makes you feel welcome all adds to the whole experience. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu.

There’s a good reason this family owned local favorite has been open for nearly 40 years. And they only need to be open 8am-2pm because they do New Mexican breakfast and lunch just right. Recommend any of their breakfast burritos- either hand-held or better yet, smothered. Baby burrito or pancakes (to share) for the kiddos.

My son and I had lunch at this wonderful establishment. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted like a family (and we have never been to this place.) The staff were really warm and inviting the food was delicious!!!!! You can tell it was made with love and care!

Amazing restaurant with incredible staff. The food is fresh and prepared fresh daily. I’ve seen the staff prepping patties using unfrozen beef, hand shredding cheese, cutting fresh vegetables, and making chile sauces and doughs for sopapillas and biscuits by hand from scratch. If your looking for a restaurant that’s comfortable, affordable, and makes REAL food not from packaging or powders than Santiago’s New Mexican Grill is the place to go. This place has been around since 1986 and there’s a reason for that. Absolutely a top tier restaurant in our city!

It appears to be a family restaurant.
Donald greated us and helped us he was a real nice guy.
We asked a lady what she recommended.
She told me to try the hamburger, carne and the tacos.
We asked for chips and salsa to start. The salsa had too much salt and we pointed it out to Donald and that was the beginning of the staff being bothered. Donald told us thats a problem he hears about but all of the salso had too much salt.
They did offer to compensate us with guacamole but a gentleman briefly after came out and said he would have to charge us and we acknowledged his request and agreed to pay for the guacamole.
So i opted for the tortilla burger well done, grennchle, cheese no fries. We also ordered two beef tacos a la carte, red chile carne adovada, huevos rancheros.
The tortilla burger was a really thin beef patty that I believed to be a frozen patty.
The beef tacos were ok.
The carne adovada was ok, a bit too oily.
When a lady walked up and asked me, if I liked the food?
I politely responded I didn’t like it. I thought it was a frozen patty.
She got visibly upset and went and told everyone.
The cook came out to say he prepared the burgers freshly as I had food in my mouth,
I was unable to respond.
We did not mean to upset everyone that worked in the restaurant.
But if they don’t want an honest opinion, maybe they shouldn’t ask for one?
When we finished eating we walked up to the counter to pay for the guacamole and the staff said we didn’t have to pay.
Restaurant appeared to be clean and not too many customers.
We eat out daily, and these are the first staff unable to accept an honest response.
Hope them the best but we won’t be visiting again.

The stand out part though was the truthfulness of the staff when making a phone order, she said 40 min, probably thinking I would cancel. No worries at all! That means your food is great and worth the wait. Too many times does a place say 15 min no matter what even though they know it’s gonna be 40.
Can’t wait to come back!

Family all the way. Fresh food made when we ordered it. Family members in the front of the house, family members at the register and family in the kitchen. When a family works as a team like this bunch, the food is top notch homemade
