This is the best soul food place in this area in terms of taste and food quality. Although Fresh Farmers and Whitus have a bigger selection of meats, even the rice and gravy here is way more flavorful, absolutely delicious. This is the only place that serves dressing and its good. I got chicken, dressing and Mac n cheese. Absolutely amazing

New to the neighborhood, started exploring cause my new job is 5 min from here. Locally owned and operated, and I could taste the love .
Had the turkey leg (more like velociraptor leg, in size, not texture, not that I would know ). Finger tender, sry not sry, would say fork tender, but I didn’t use one.
The place has such a family vibe, that I just dug in, all .

Well, it took 3 attempts (different days) to actually receive this order for 11:45 a.m. & 12:00 p.m. D&L canceled three (3) times because the TOGO order was still cooking. Door Dash could not wait, so they canceled the delivery.
I enjoy the Turkey Wings. They are always tender and seasoned. The gravy was delicious, and the cornbread was a winner. I will still order. This is two (2) meals for me. I will bet it weighs 3+ lbs. Delivered piping hot!

The food has declined over the years. I decided to try them once more, and it was pure trash!!! The cheese won’t melt on the mac and cheese. I had to add butter, sugar, and cinnamon to the yams, plus they are stringy! The meat patty is so bland that I had to spit it out! The green beans are extra salty! Terrible. Where are the old cooks??

If you’re hungry, and don’t have a lot of money, D & L’s Cajun kitchen it’s just a place for you. It is a sort of a combination of soul food and Cajun cooking. This restaurant with plenty of dining seating is bound to have something that you will find appealing and filling. They have a small steam table with the usual suspects of a good soul, food restaurant – oxtails, turkey wings, collard greens, rice, gravy, mac & cheese, etc. Then at a separate location they will fry you fish, shrimp, boudin or whatever you want. As an added bonus they offer on Friday and Saturdays pork Cracklin as good as what I get in Louisiana. So again if you looking to fill up without emptying your pockets, this is a very good choice.

I had the smothered porkchops with rice and gravy. So very good. My friend had the turkey wings with dressing and gravy. Oh man, that was totally the way to go today. Turkey is so tender and moist. Dressing was perfect. I will go back and when I do, it will be the Turkey wings, bet on that.

Every time I come I have the turkey wings with brown gravy sweet potatoes rice and macaroni and cheese with a slice of their butter milk corn bread! This Place is a must visit if in the Hempstead area! Wings are gigantic and well seasoned. Nothing taste old or yesterday. The older lady that serves gives great proportions. Only issue is wish she was more cheerful. And engaging. Seems to be a bit irritated at times

Those who think this food is good, I swear cannot cook. I went to this place Sunday for the 3rd time giving the the benefit of a doubt. I will never go back. 0xtails were small and little portion for $23.99 but plate worth $10.00. Canned yams salty greens. Don’t waste your time or money here. And hungry poor church folks don’t know any better on Sundays smh.
