Authentic Indian food and hospitality at its best. This restaurant was such a great find. The owner Hina is a really warm and friendly host and this restaurant will make you all feel welcome.

The food is so delicious. It’s packed with spices and reminded me so much of my mother’s cooking. That’s a serious compliment for any one of Indian origin. Such a complex mix of spices that is fiery but really takes you on a journey.

I had combination number 2 which is mutter panner and has cottage cheese and peas with layers of great spices. Cumin, clove, coriander and whatever secret mix they have going, it works.

It also a shredded chicken curry that definitely packed a punch but in a great way.

Two beautiful chutneys and really loved the mint one. With all those complex flavors there is nothing better than a plain salty rice to balance it out.

Lastly a naan with butter and garlic. Next time I would go for the Paratha. Now that I have tasted the curries I can totally see that combo being really good.

They also have Thums up which you have to try as it is the Indian version of coke which adds that extra bit of authenticity that you don’t always find in other restaurants.

In summary very simple menu, with bold and time tested recipes but most all the type of welcome and hospitality that you cannot teach or fake, because it comes from the heart.

Thanks Hina. Very well deserved five stars. This place will become your regular if you like Indian food.

In town for work and saw this was near the office so ordered pickup and what a treat. Went with the combo #2 wrap with chicken and paneer and as you can see from the pic this thing was a BEAST. Not a wrap in the sense that you could eat it with your hands but I’m not complaining.

The owner told me a bit about the ingredients they use etc and she herself seemed excited about me getting to try her food for the first time.

The stuff on the website about using healthier ingredients is not just fluff, you can tell there’s no filler going on here. Great amount of heat, great flavors, huge portion, decent price, nice owner. What’s not to like?

This was the best food and best customer experience I could’ve asked for. I came here with 3 people. 4 dishes, 1 paratha, 1 naan ghee combo, 1 mango lassi, 1 chai, 1 cup of raita, 1 gulab jamun, and 2 other desserts. This place is celiac friendly!! Completely. It is vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian free. It is low sugar, low calorie for the type of food it is, and it is everything great!!

The owner(?) employee(?) with short hair and nice ear piercings is wonderful, welcoming, and funny. I will be coming back and encouraging others to come as well.

I now have a new ‘spot’ There are many reviews about how amazing the food is, and I couldn’t concur more. The only thing I’d add, is that I’ve tried Indian food all around the country/World and the flavor profiles in the dishes here were authentic, favorful, and balanced.

This review, instead, will highlight the exceptional service: the hostess provided a great breakdown of the menu, the food was prepared relatively rapidly, the vibes were simple/chill, and the owner was extremely friendly and welcoming.

I honestly don’t understand how this place has such a high rating. My friends and I decided to try Maaji’s Street Kitchen, but it was a disappointing experience.

First of all, the restaurant is very small and doesn’t look very clean. We waited for our food for over an hour, even though our order was quite simple. It seemed like they were prioritizing takeout orders over dine-in customers. There were only two employees working — one of them being the owner — and neither seemed to be in any rush.

Yes, the owner is friendly and tries to talk to everyone, but personally, I come to a restaurant to eat, not to chat. What matters to me is getting my food in a reasonable time.

The food itself was okay, but nothing special — definitely not worth the long wait. There are plenty of other places nearby with better food, faster service, and a cleaner atmosphere. I wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t recommend it to my friends.

I always get food from here at their little stand at the Soulard Farmer’s Market, and tonight my wife and I wanted curry, so we decided to go into the physical restaurant for the first time. The owner immediately recognized me as I walked in, gave me a fist bump, and asked how I’ve been. Every person that came in after me, she either said “Nice to see you again,” or “Nice to meet you.” She also gave me a small plate of rice and curry while I waited for my order to finish, and an additional side of rice along with what I had ordered, once my order was complete. I haven’t been surprised by kindness like that in a really long time, and it happened multiple times in the short time period I was waiting for my order. Also, the food was as incredible as it always is. DEFINITELY come here!!! She deserves all the money.

This place has incredibly flavorful and healthy food, and people who are passionate about said food, passionate about serving you, and know what they’re doing. What’s not to love?

Side note: all the art and decorations inside the restaurant were beautiful, the music playing was great, even if I couldn’t understand a single word, and the restaurant looked very clean, everywhere I looked. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review this long. 5 star experience in every single way 🙂

In the mood for Indian food and found Maaji’s Street Kitchen nearby. Excellent help at the counter navigating the menu and options. Selected Jalapeno and cheese samosas (comes with two chutney sauces), Gobhi masala bowl (basmati rice covered with a flavorful cauliflower masala, a Raita with kachumber (yogurt sauce with tomato, onion, cucumber, and spices), and a Mango Lassi to drink. The food did not disappoint! Staff was quite friendly! Would definitely recommend! So excited to eat, I forgot to take a picture when served! 🙂

I ordered chicken and naan. The chicken was ok and the naan was really tasty. The service was also nice.

The only thing is the place is small with just a few tables, so it would be better if there was more space and a quieter atmosphere.

Incredibly welcoming as we entered. The owner explained the menu in depth. Then offered small tasting of dished we inquired about. The food had wonderful flavors, we had the chicken curry, gobhi masala and matar paneer. Amazing! The inside is modest in the setting, tables and chairs are plastic but no complaints, very clean and still made to feel warm. The service from everyone was fantastic. We will definitely be back! A new favorite!!!
