Took a bike trip today. As bike trips go, we had no plans until we rode by the BACK 40. Rode by, smelled the smoke, and we turned right around. We were not disappointed. Beef brisket was plastic forks tender, juicy, and the falter was amazing. Pork belly was equally amazing and juicy. Also loved the jalapeño mac & cheese and the potato salad. The outside patio was nice and quiet and a great place to chill. Had a great time talking with David and the owner. Very welcoming place. I dont know how you couldn’t enjoy this place. Definitely will be back.

Not a good first impression. I had high hopes for this place since this area really needs a good quality smokehouse. My first red flag was the fact you have to order from the counter that there is no table service. I am really confused as to how this place has gotten so many good reviews. I guess people in this area are just so tired of Mexican food they’re willing to think anything is good.
I typically judge a place by the quality of its brisket. I was completely disappointed. It had decent texture but was very dry and so overly salted I almost could not eat it!
You could not taste the flavor of the brisket due to the over abundance of sodium. The high level of sodium made me a little bit nauseated.
The macaroni and cheese was the same quality you would find in a dry mix such as kraft macaroni and cheese and not very flavorful.
The baked beans taste tasted like they came out of a can.
Extremely way overpriced for the brisket portion as well. Put that amount of money it was almost laughable.
It is not the worst brisket I’ve ever had that title goes to the only other smokehouse in the area and as far as first impressions go I was extremely letdown by the meal I had there this evening.
The price would not have been really that unreasonable had the quality been up to par.
For a (alleged) half a pound of brisket and two sides with a water cost me 28 bucks including a small tip. Pictured in the photo is what I actually got at first I thought I was getting Pranked. It may look like a large portion in the photograph it taken to put it into perspective that is a small plastic fork and spoon and only a 12 ounce cup of water. The cut was only about a half an inch thick and I’m being generous at that. I still can’t believe every time I look at this picture that was 28 bucks!
A little bit high in my opinion but for good quality brisket with a decent portion this would not be that unreasonable but, I found the value for what I had this evening it was way too expensive.

I love, love, LOVE this restaurant. The BBQ meat with or without any of the flavors is divine. The bakery is a real gem! My favorites so far are the homemade pimento cheese, blueberry delight & cinnamon. Simple transparent ingredients. Guy from Dinners, Drive-ins & Dives…this is one place that needs to be on the map frfr! This is a true original, I’d say.

Got some of the pork and chicken, along with some of both sauces, to go. We ate at home on onion Hawaiian buns after we sauced the meat up. The chicken was amazing and had a slight spice to it without sauce. The pork had terrific color and texture, and tasted great. As good as I’ve had in quite a while. Their lemonade was good as well. The place was busy but not slammed on a Saturday afternoon, very clean, staff was friendly, and there’s plenty of space. I can’t wait to come back to get some brisket abs try the sides.

We went twice over the weekend because the first time was so good! I can only speak about what we had, but the brisket, chopped chicken, jalapeño mac and cheese, and creamy potatoes were absolutely fantastic. Oh, and the banana pudding was sooo good!

And the owners and staff are some of the finest people you will ever meet. Go!

A tasty new BBQ place for Franklin County. Large portions and great selection. We had the chicken BBQ which was very tender and chunky, not dried out like at other places. Be sure to try the pork belly bites if you are hungry. Well worth a stop in when in the area. Check the opening hours though, it’s not open every day.

Just the best BBQ you can put in your mouth! Sides are all homemade and huge portions. Homemade deserts to die for if you have any room left. Congratulations Henry and Glenna and family. I have been waiting for your restaurant for 30+ years!

This is a fairly new restaurant that has only been open for 2 months or so. The food is soooo good! They serve from 11 till they run out of meat. We get our food to go so haven’t stayed to see how many customers they get over a period of time. The first time we went they were already out of a couple of their meats. I had never had smoked chicken before, but after tasting theirs I think I led a deprived life till now. The brisket and pulled pork taste delicious. This place’s meats do not need any BBQ sauce but if you feel you need to have it, their sweet sauce is really tasty and their NC style sauce (I hate NC style) is actually okay for me. My wife said it was as good as Pierce’s over near Williamsburg. If you want quality BBQ then this is your destination.

I’m picky when it comes to pulled pork barbecue. Most places have slimy, par boiled, barely smoked junk. I’m looking at you other BBQ place in Rocky Mount. But this was phenomenal. Large portions, fair and reasonable prices. I will definitely return.
