I stopped in for dinner while working in the area for a few days, and this place looked busy—which I took as a good sign. The atmosphere was just right: big enough that it didn’t feel loud or chaotic, but not so small that it felt like a locals-only spot. There were pool tables and a good crowd playing, which added to the relaxed vibe.

The bathrooms and the rest of the bar were extremely clean, which I really appreciated. The bartender took a little while to come by and check on us, and when we asked for menus, we only got one to share—but once we ordered, things improved quickly.

The burger was fantastic—a great smash burger with tons of flavor, definitely not a pre-made frozen patty. I’d recommend ordering a double since the patties are thin (as they should be). I went with the homemade onion rings on the side, and they did not disappoint.

The owner was walking around, introducing himself and chatting with customers. Super nice guy—it’s always great to see an owner who’s engaged and proud of their place.

Overall, I’d definitely come back. Great food, friendly atmosphere, and a place that clearly takes pride in what they do.

Great place, friendly. Good food. Stopped at noon, was surprised not more people here. Workers looking for a great lunch spot, highly recommend trying this place.

A big group was in town for meeting and we wanted to have some fun. Looking for a place that we could eat, drink and be merry we saw this.
The name itself made us all smile, though we were skeptical about getting decent food.
We took a chance and it paid off.
12 of us walked in and we’re trying to get the lay of the land when a man at the bar mentioned we could push some tables together. Turns out he was the owner and he helped us, directed me to some good bourbon he had and we enjoyed some conversation.
Our server, likely a young college student, was not so happy to see us and was less than accommodating and obviously we were his last table, he just wanted to leave.
That did not stop us from enjoying surprisingly good bar food, overall acceptable service and an excellent location where the owner actually was there, worked and appreciated our coming in.
If you live here or just passing through, it’s it a local treasure since the 1930s and you should support this type of business.
Well done DuKum Inn!!

Great atmosphere and good drinks. They were super busy the night I visited so the service was a little slow but they made up for it by being very friendly.

DuKum Inn is a beloved local spot with a relaxed, small-town vibe. Known for its tasty burgers and friendly atmosphere, it’s a go-to place for both locals and visitors. The staff are welcoming and make you feel like part of the community. The menu has classic American fare, and the drinks menu includes local favorites. It’s a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring Kirksville or to catch up with friends. The casual setting and genuine hospitality make DuKum Inn stand out as a true Missouri gem.

I have to say that for a college town, with two universities, the atmosphere is fairly chill. They have 3 pool tables, with free pool Monday from 1 PM to 1:30 AM. Their food is some of the best. ($$$) Their drinks are great also, but also a bit. ($$) Overall, they have the best bar in town. Clean, friendly, good vibes, and many TVs to catch just about anything Sports related.

Very much a college bar. Bar staff ignored us because we were older. I doubt we’ll be back, but the college kids were having fun, so I get it. Great hangout for them, no question. Definitely not for those over 40 lol
