Unfortunately, this time was a major disappointment. I suspect my first mistake was ordering from the happy hour menu. I ordered the sashimi combo #1, along with hot sake and edamame. The hot sake never arrived, which I initially let go, but the sushi itself was unacceptable. The nigiri was tough and chewy, and the cuts of fish were poor quality. The ahi tuna nigiri was the only item that was even remotely edible.
What ultimately ensured I won’t return was a serious hygiene concern. I used the restroom after the chef, and I am certain he did not wash his hands. There were no wet paper towels in the trash, and when I passed by the table where he was sitting, his hands were completely dry. That alone was enough to make the entire experience extremely off-putting.
To make matters worse, I was still charged for the hot sake I never received. While mistakes can happen during busy times, this occurred when I was literally the only customer in the restaurant. They printed another receipt and assured me that the first one wasn’t finalized, so no harm done.
Overall, this visit was a complete letdown and not an experience I’m willing to repeat. What a shame.
To start, we ordered edamame and a crab roll as appetizers. My husband’s crab roll came out quickly, and he really enjoyed it, but my edamame never arrived. For my entrée, I ordered the spicy tofu soup, which was surprisingly bland—I had to add a lot of soy sauce just to make it palatable. The soup was supposed to come with rice and salad, but those never showed up either.
Although our waitress was friendly, she was not very attentive. We had to flag her down after finishing our meals just to ask about the missing food. She apologized and claimed the kitchen was behind, but considering how quickly other items came out, that excuse didn’t seem very convincing. She did comp the edamame, which was appreciated, but when we asked for a box to take it to go, she forgot, and we had to ask another employee after asking about 10 minutes later.
Overall, while the food was hit-or-miss, the service was the biggest letdown. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but basic attentiveness and follow-through were lacking. Not sure if we’ll be back anytime soon.
