Good first time at Lucky Sushi Bar. First impression made me feel a bit skeptical, since the location could be a bit cleaner. The floor was sticky and there was small trash all over the floor (crumbs, straw covers, etc). So my hopes were not very high. However the food is very tasty, fresh, and at the right temperature. We liked everything that was brought to the table. Staff was very friendly and professional. Will visit again and see if presentation of place has improved.

Depends on your waitress; our first time there waitress was good. Last time there the waitress was rude and we had to remind her when our orders were out and sitting at the bar for quite a while. She let our appetizers sit out forever so our food was done at same time. Cynthia, another waitress there, is pretty good and knows what she is doing, she made our first experience there great. The new waitress that could not even add or subtract scared us from going back. It was not worth the hassle at that point.

Delicious food. Friendly staff greeted us with a Japanese welcome upon entering. I had a create your own bowl. Family had sushi. Waiter brought extra sauces upon request and when he wasn’t sure about ingredients, he went to ask. Very professional. Very trendy walls.
Chicken (grilled or fried) teriyaki was great. Vegetable tempura was awesome. Cucumber lemonade was fresh and tasty. Sweet, but not overly so, and not bitter.
Menu font is tiny, so it’s easier to read it online.
Bathroom needs to be cleaner. Not horrible, but needs to be cleaner.

This place is a little more hit than miss for me…plus if reading this review keep in mind I usually eat the same plate all the time. I have yet to try their sushi…so I won’t opine on it. I will opine only on what I eat obviously.
The one appetizer I always get are their pork egg rolls. This night it came out fresh and hot…the right amount of crisp on it. The sweet and sour sauce is par for the course…I won’t say who but there’s other places with a slightly better version but still tasty. Sweetness with a little bit of tang…perfect combination.
I always get the shrimp and chicken tempura. This place is hit and miss…this night (maybe because we ate there) the plates came out with a beautiful presentation of the meal. However, they don’t always get the same love as that night. The shrimp batter was nicely fried with good consistency… It wasn’t falling off. The shrimp and chicken had the perfect cook on it…grab a little bit of avocado and the cream cheese with the shrimp…dynamite
However…ask for it to go? Not so much love…nor attention to detail. The flavors are all there…but the batter was a little less consistent and no attention paid to the presentation.
The place is fairly small…the servers are attentive. And they got rid of their discount if you check in on FB…still a good place to check out every now and then. Flip a coin…

10/10 ⭐️’s. The food was delicious, the veggies used on food were fresh. They have a huge selection of different items to choose from along with a custom lucky menu. Complimentary miso soup that was yummy. The service was fast, friendly and our drinks were topped quickly. Definitely recommend, will visit again.

Placed a to-go order for the tempura bowl. Fried rice was bland, the salmon was soggy. Not worth the $15 I paid. Had no flavor, just tasted like basic fast food. Also, waited for 45 minutes for my order. I’m not satisfied.

We go the fried calamari and it was delicious. Their calamari is thick and well seasoned without any of the rubbery elastic texture. I had the lucky sushi roll which was incredibly done, the spicy mayo imitation crab was so good and spicy. My husband got a bowl with basically tempura fried everything which was also delicious. Our server recommended the yuza sauce and it paired greatly with the calamari. 10/10 recommend
UPDATE: This has become my favorite sushi place to eat at I 100% recommend giving it a try. I keep coming back here and recommending it to friends and family because I honestly think they have some of the best sushi roles in the rgv, good quality and great prices.

They deliver the wrong order and forgot to include the sauce and upon calling the restaurant they said there was nothing they could do about it. NEVER AGAIN. They just lost a customer that used to order all of the time. Uneducated person on the phone. I will blast this store in FB.
