I had tried the Mi Tierra Cocina Mexicana in Glenpool in 2023. It was not impressive.
Same name and owner, but not always the same results……
I have found that with these local chain restaurants, different locations with different managers and different cooks can mean vastly different dining experiences. With that said I’m trying the newest location on Yale.
Greeted and seated promptly.
Good chips, fair salsas quickly arrived at the table. Ask for the hot stuff. You also get the restaurant’s signature nasty white dipping sauce. Or salad dressing or whatever it is? Disgusting.
Trying something very different for me, El Guapo. (no, not me, the meal is called El Guapo) El Guapo is two thin chicken breasts seasoned, then lightly fried to form a delicate crisp finish on the edges. Fresh spinach decorated the chicken and all that covered with queso. The menu offers a choice of charro or black beans, but the waiter did not offer either. The meal was delivered with refried beans and rice. An excellent meal this was. Simple, flavorful, a five-star plate of food. I found it, a meal that would bring me back to Mi Tierra Mexican Kitchen.
My wife had the Fiesta Bowl with the chicken. A large bowl of fresh lettuce, black beans, pico, avocado slices and healthy a drizzle of crema. The chicken was a substantial serving of the same grilled chicken as my meal, only chopped. A tasty lunch special.
Nicely decorated inside, modern décor, booths and tables available. The service was very good.
It was midafternoon. Lunch time for a group of Mexican electricians that rolled up in their white vans. A working man’s approved restaurant. I can go 5 stars…..excluding the white sauce.

Phaeacia White
I really enjoyed the chips/salsa. Chips were hot, fresh and not greasy. Additionally, the chicken fajitas were seasoned and tasty. Server was attentive and friendly. My only real disappointment was that I ordered a Sangria Swirl and it was not at all frozen, as advertised. I sent it back twice…to no avail. Overall, I would recommend. Give it a try – the lunch prices are very reasonable.

The fresh salsa is pleasantly spicy and piques your taste buds. The grilled street tacos are the go to with fresh cilantro, chopped onions, tomatillo salsa with carnitas with a grilled green onion and jalapeño that is generously piled on at a reasonable price. Tons of authentic flavor without over salting like most Mexican restaurants!

Beautiful place. Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was excellent! Chips were warm and the salsas were perfectly seasoned. The chicken soup was served hot with a lot of cheese and tortilla strips. The street tacos, chorizo and chicken, were generously portioned and delicious. The green sauce served with them was perfect.

The service was quick and we didn’t wait long for food at all. Our server was great and really considerate, I think her name was Lizeth? She really went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with our experience there. The food came out fresh and steaming hot. We got the Barbacoa plate and the street tacos. We got steak and carnitas on the tacos and they were great! Their specialty queso with the chorizo and pico comes out sizzling in a pan. It was delicious, as well. Their guacamole was fresh and had a great flavor. Both dishes we got came with a generous side of beans and rice, which were really tasty compared to stuff I’ve had at other restaurants— especially the rice. All the portions were pretty good. Overall we enjoyed our meal and our experience. Looking forward to going back again sometime. I would definitely recommend.

So glad we decided to try this place! Excellent food and not just your typical menu options. Everything was cooked perfectly and the meat was juicy and tender. The staff were all friendly and did a great job. Their charro beans are the absolute best we’ve ever had. Will definitely be back!!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Mi Tierra Mexican Kitchen! The restaurant has a wonderful, festive vibe, and our server was fantastic—very attentive and friendly throughout our whole meal.
The only reason I’m not giving it a full 5 stars is that the food didn’t quite match the excellence of the service. My entrée arrived lukewarm, and I was hoping it would be hotter. We also felt that, while the presentation was nice, the flavors were a bit on the mild side. We were anticipating a bit more of a punch and seasoning in our dishes.
Overall, we had a really nice time thanks to the great staff and lovely setting. I’d be willing to come back and try it again, maybe just on a different night for the kitchen!
