Reviews
I decided to give this place a try based on some good reviews I found.
First off, Dee is one of the best waiters I’ve ever had in my entire life. They were attentive, personable, and just all around a delight.
Now, the food. Everything I tried was some of the best food I’ve had. The gnocchi was to die for. The chicken Parmesan was phenomenal. The bolognese was superb. The cappellacci? Heavenly.
We also tried the Tiramisu which was authentically amazing as well as the Budino which was rich, chocolatey, and delightful all around.
A huge showstopper was the espresso gelati. It was creamy, full of flavor, and left you wishing you had more.
Do yourselves a favor and eat here.
Cozy with just the right touch of sophistication. It felt comfortable and stylish without trying too hard. Great for a relaxed dinner or a special night out.
Service:
Really impressed. Our waiter let me try a wine first, actually listened to what I didn’t like, and then picked out something perfect. It felt personal and thoughtful, not just going through the motions.
Food:
What can I say? Absolutely delicious. Everything was light, flavorful, and just the right amount. I’ve been trying to find a place that captures the taste of real Italian food—and this is it. So, so good.
We were seated as soon as we walked in. Even though a large party was coming in after us they still made sure to accommodate us and we really appreciated that after such a long drive.
The staff was so lovely, kind, and very attentive. The chef was very informative and had a great conversation with my mom, my friend, and I. The next time we are in North Carolina, we will definitely be back. It was truly an unforgettable experience and I recommend that everyone try this place out!!
Lights were flickering which was an interesting atmosphere for Valentine’s Day. They were out of gnocchi that my wife was looking forward to (it’s a pretty limited menu and we were there at opening). And there was no special menu for Valentine’s Day. But they did put some balloons in the window!
I’m a bit shocked this place is so well reviewed. We’ve had better meals at Carrabba’s and I think that Italian chefs might have a small issue with y’all calling that oily muffin foccia.
Service was nice.
Upon arrival a very flustered waiter offered us to choose a table and sat us down. The laminate table was secured level with a wedge to prevent it from rocking. There were no table cloths on the tables and diner-style napkins were held in place with utensils. The wood bench my 93yr old mother chose to sit on wasn’t cushioned and quickly became uncomfortable. Then we looked at the menu. Each item listed was appealing, but expensive for being offered at a strip-mall restaurant without any ambiance.
Our waiter returned to take our order, and again was flustered. She apologized for not having clams available in one option “because we couldn’t get any fresh clams, and they won’t serve anything that isn’t fresh”, but offered to have the meal prepared using broccoli or asparagus. When asked about the eggplant entree, she said that she picked up the vegetable at “the farmers market” that afternoon so we could be assured its freshness. It was the only entree on the menu that wasn’t priced; our waiter said it was $27. That seemed reasonable because the pasta (without clams) was $31 and other options on the menu were all above that price. I chose the risotto despite being told it would take “20 min because it’s made fresh”. Bread wasn’t offered, but focaccia was on the menu. The eggplant was served at the same time my side of broccolini came. The wait was long and both dishes were getting cold while we waited for the risotto and the second side. The waiter apologized and said it was “being plated now”. Several minutes later it arrived and was too hot to eat.
The eggplant was enjoyed by my mother, as was her side of asparagus that delivered with my entree. The risotto sat in oil and was tasted greasy, unlike I’d ever been served or prepared myself. My broccolini was quite tasty.
Throughout our dinner, the waiter left the restaurant through the front door and was gone for up to five minutes on four to five occasions. The last time they arrived reeking of cigarettes. They were the only waiter to the five occupied tables. We heard her apologising to other patrons about being served the wrong dinner or forgetting to give the order to the kitchen.
So, our visit was an expensive and disappointing experience.
We made a reservation for 4 people, that included a toddler. We weren’t aware there were no high chairs, but didn’t end up being an issue as we used pillows to prop him up at the booth. There were a few open tables, but not overly crowded ambiance.
We ordered focaccia and arancini to start. Both came out relatively quickly and were very good. For entrees we ordered the eggplant parm, gnocchi and cappellacci. All three dishes were barely warm, the cappellacci had some frozen parts. Very disappointing.
We really wanted to like it here, but sadly won’t be returning.
