Food was great and tasted authentic. Beyond the food’s flavor was the service. The staff were super friendly and helpful- really made us feel welcome. If you’re looking for Peruvian and Colombian food, this place has great food worth the price. Dessert was so good I couldn’t help but take a few bites before snapping a picture of it!

Robert Young’s review really hyped this place up. But in Charlotte, there’s plenty of competition as far as Colombian restaurants and latin food in general and the food here was just OK.
1/2 chicken was well seasoned with crispy skin and juicy meat. The green sauce however, was not to my liking. Maybe I like how the Peruvians do it better, so no real knock on Chick O Rico, just different tastes, I guess. The red sauce had a kick and was good. I should’ve gotten more of those. And they were out of the yellow sauce.
I found it odd that they put the chicken in the same container as the salad, which led the salad to be warm and mixed with chicken juices. Not appetizing.
The beans on top of the rice were bland. They would easily benefit from a little more seasoning or just straight up salt.
Fried yucca was fresh and tasty but a laughably small portion.
Overall the meal was fine but just paled in comparison to their competition on South Blvd.

I really thought I was being pranked. Inwalkee into this restaurant with 2 other people. They were about 20% full but no one came out to greet us at the front desk. After a while we just walked in and they told us just to take a seat. We sat fo around 20 mins before they came to take our order, they had 5 staff members and a guy that seemed to be the manager. Two staff members were eating by the window tables and the other three taking orders. Long story short it took us approximately an hour to eat. They didn’t bring anything at the same time, the food was nothing to brag about. I added a photo of the 27 dollars snapper my husband ordered which came after my mom and I had already finished our meals.

!!! ATTENTION CHARLOTTE !!!
Preface: ALL residents of charlotte NEED to come support and eat at CHICK-O-RICO
Review: Chick-O- Rico is a family-owned restaurant that serves the absolute best Peruvian styled Chicken in CHARLOTTE, HANDS DOWN. I’ve eaten at this place 3 times in one month and each time was phenomenal. I’m not by the slightest hyping this up. The food is genuinely that good, and not to mention FRESH.
All three times I have ordered a quarter chicken dark with fries, rice and beans.
The Chicken. Juicy meat, crispy skin, seasoned generously, and charcoaled to perfection. Accompanying the chicken can be 1 of three sauces: Green (verde), Red – spicy (rojo), and Yellow (amarillo). The red and yellow sauces are made from red and yellow Peruvian peppers. The red sauce is NOT spicy and all palettes can tolerate the “heat”. Give all three a chance, but my personal favorite is the green sauce with its full-bodied flavor, elevating the meal to an even higher level (cilantro, avocado based).
Rice. Nice, soft, and cooked to perfection.
Beans. Beans be BUSSIN. Seasoned and when you pair it with the rice, tremendously great combo.
French Fries. Hot and salted. Crispy outside and fluffy inside. Exactly how a fry should be.
Jugo de Passion fruit (Passion fruit juice). Sweet with a little tang. Every sip is delightful.

I’ve had an opportunity to speak with a couple of the owners, and they are truly down-to-earth humble people. Mrs. Victoria is an outstanding chef that connects with her patrons and looks after the restaurant with extreme care and detail. The restaurant is immaculate, it feels like someone’s home when you dine-in and you can eat off the floors. Mrs. Victoria’s nephew waited on us, and he is personable proactive young man, extremely kind and helpful. The entire staff is super friendly and speak Spanish!

This Restaurant NEEDS to be on Charlotte’s radar, and we need to spread the word to our friends and family about this place and make it a staple in the Charlotte Area.

Much love.

I cannot express how incredible my experience was today. Since being diagnosed with Celiac, going out to eat with has become a challenge, but this restaurant exceeded every expectation I had.

The customer service was the most attentive I have experienced. The manager personally came to our table to discuss my allergies and ensure everything would be handled correctly. I could even see the Chef in the kitchen, and she spoke with us to ensure everything was good.

After I placed my order, the manager spoke to the chef and he let me know that my initial choice might not be the best for my safety and recommended a better option instead. That level of transparency from the kitchen made me feel completely at ease.

I tried the new cheese empanadas they are promoting, and they were freshly made and delicious! My friend had the Bandeja Paisa and said it was absolute perfection; the beans were flavorful and the rice was steaming and fresh.

The lady who served us was sweet, attentive, and constantly checked in to make sure we were okay. It was a true joy to finally have a worry-free meal. I highly recommend this spot to anyone, especially those who need a team they can truly trust!

We were pleasantly surprised by the food and service from this restaurant. Naty was warm and friendly, and the food was remarkable. I would come back any day of the week to try out their specials. Sorry, no food pics! It looked so good I forgot to take some.

It was our first visit and we were very pleased with the atmosphere and every detail of the decor. The food was absolutely delicious, the natural juices, Colombian empanadas best I have tasted in NC nice and crunchy. Service was great even though possibly a little short staffed it did not take away from having a great experience. I will definitely be back with my family & friends.

Stopped by Chick-O-Rico and had a really good overall experience. You can tell right away this is a place run with care. Small business owners Carlos and Vicky have built something that feels welcoming and genuine, not rushed or generic.
I started with the anticuchos, which were well seasoned and cooked just right. Plenty of flavor without being overpowering. I paired that with chicha morada, which was refreshing and not overly sweet—exactly how it should be.
For the main dish, I had the ¼ rotisserie chicken with two sides. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and clearly the kind of dish they know how to do well. Simple, comforting, and satisfying.
Dessert was flan, and it was a great way to end the meal. Smooth, light, and just sweet enough.
Service was friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe felt relaxed—like a neighborhood spot you’d come back to without overthinking it.
Good food, good people, and a place that deserves the support. I’d definitely come back.

The food was good. The price was very. Very little cute place. Nice and Clean. Just the service was a bit off. My waitress forgot several things and went missing mind you we were the only table she had, but there was a young man that was helpful and accommodated my needs.

My wife and I have been to Chic-O- Rico a few times now and both times the food was delicious! We had the 1-4 white meat chicken with green beans and red beans and rice. The fried rice with chicken, small chicken empanadas and it was all really good. Their fountain juices are amazing as well. Service was good although both times they were very slow to bring our check even after we asked for it. For us the food was very good and we will go back again.
