Tried this place for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered broccoli and beef with pork fried rice. Broccoli was crunchy, beef was tender, I asked for light sauce so it was just the perfect amount. But the star was the fried rice. Outside of big city Chinatowns this is one of the best fried rice I’ve had. It was cooked over very high heat, hence it wasn’t greasy, and the high heat imparts a flavor that we call ‘wok hei’ loosely translated to ‘wok breath’. Once you have it, you will know the difference. Looking forward to more takeout/delivery. Came back and was just as good.

There is NOTHING about this food that is gourmet! The Shrimp Egg Foo Young was burned, tasted awful, and they use cheap popcorn shrimp. The General Tso Chicken was mushy, and the WonTon soup smelled and tasted old. Don’t waste your time or money.

Huddled between a shop and an alley sits Peking Gourmet, a non descript but decent little Chinese restaurant. P.G. is a copy of many of the small “bodega-esque” Chinese restaurants that are popular in NYC.Inside, this dour hole in the wall there are not many table/benches for dinning-in because most patrons take away their food. However, if you’re brave and hungry enough to enter this joint, you will find that the place is cleaner than itappears upon first sight. In fact the counters and kitchen look properly maintained and the food seems to be kept safely and handled correctly.Peking Gourmet’s edge over competitors is they specialize in quick meal preparation for either take away or dine-in and dash-out options. Considering, howaestheticallyunimpressive the place is inside and out, it is pleasantly surprising that the food is actually pretty good and not mysterious or questionable. It should be noted that P.G. does not have the ability to process debt or credit cards and so it is cash only.

The dining area leaves alot to be desired, but food tasted fresh and was decent for the cost..ordered take-out.

Super tasty food for a fair price. I definitely recommend the crab Rangoon, fried scallops & the spring rolls!

Greasy food with no flavors. I couldn’t recognize the chicken or the pork, and that was their specialty. This was an embarrassing evening with my dinner guests. I have no desire to give this place a second chance.

#1 choice in Chinese takeout. Fresh and quick. Pictured are Crispy Crab Rangoon, fresh Veg Lo Mein and Pork Fried Rice, with sweet & slightly spicy Orange Chicken. They deliver around town, not sure of radius. Be prepared-cash only!

Great! Typical chinese menu and best for takeout, they do not serve in packaging made for dine-in. Good vegetables and good tofu as well!

Great food for a small and very busy restaurant near Chandler’s wharf on front street. It’s only takeout/pickup, meaning you’d have to call in order for pickup or use a delivery service. Food is fresh and delicious, made to order. Total for my special combination dish of sesame chicken was $12.18 (this price is grand total with tax included). Enjoy and Happy holidays!!!

I got the fried rice instead of white rice. It tasted like it was cooked in old grease and ruined the flavor of the entire dinner. I will never eat here again. I am still gagging
