I don’t usually leave reviews because I’m not a Karen, but I’m really tired of paying for sub par food. Last time I went the food wasn’t great, but I decided to give it another shot, and this time was really a let down. I got a vegan BLT. The tomato was basically translucent , and there were 2 tiny pieces of tempeh. For a 13/14 dollar sandwich all I really got was lettuce and bread. Please review your kitchen and how things are being made. My friends vegan banh mi sandwich was also not made well. Sad, used to really like this place.

I’m a frequent customer and love this place! Their vegetarian Reuben sandwich with tofu is AMAZING and they have unique snacks, drinks, desserts, food options and cool, friendly staff! Today, I met Wren who made a citrus pie with cream cheese, lime and a berry compote. He introduced himself and was so pleasant! The pie was very yummy and the perfect, sweet end to a long day!

Union Market is a great lunch spot! I’m a big fan of the indoor/outdoor dining, and the neighborhood market feel. The vegan club sandwich was fantastic, but I will always be a fries over chips gal. Richmond restaurants lack parking lots, so it can be tough to find decent parking. I would return, and I am interested in trying other menu items and drink options!

Cute sandwich shop with outdoor and indoor seating. Coffee, beer and wine is available. Great for lunch, an early dinner, or a meeting with friends. I got two sides because I just couldn’t chose! One was the days special a vegan Cajun red beans and rice and the other was their white bean artichoke and arugula salad. The Cajun beans were spicy just as one would expect! The salad was refreshing and lemony. Perfect for the warmer weather. I’d love to visit this spot again. Great selection and great prices . The service was swift as well!

Stopped in for a quick lunch. The ordering style is seamless and we got our food quickly. Sandwiches and salads are made with fresh ingredients and soft, freshly baked bread. Indoor and outdoor seating accommodates for all weather conditions. Prices are reasonable for the amount and quality of food. The market itself also has a variety of items available for quick purchase, both refrigerated and shelf-stable. Prices aren’t much different from mainstream grocery retailers. This has made my list of top 3 lunch locations on this side of Richmond!

Union Market never misses. I’ve been here several times visiting Richmond or as a pit stop! They have delicious and healthy food. Loved this half salad half sandwich combo! Got to eat outside this time. So glad to see its still here!

First time checking out this place for breakfast this past weekend and it was okay. Food came out quickly, nice service, but not comfortable sitting inside. The Market was good. Food was good for Avacado toast. Area were the restaurant is located is cute though.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for two years. Union is a classic and always hits, s/o tempeh bahn mi and the pimento cheese with Route 11 chips, but what compelled me to write a review is the vegetarian smash burger I had last night! THANK YOU GUYS FOR HAVING THIS OPTION. I love a black bean/veggie patty, but sometimes just want that “meat” experience and not a ton of places in the neighborhood have that. It was so, so good after running the half yesterday.

Union market really is a neighborhood gem. hosting block parties, decent happy hour and a really well curated selection of wines and foods. Staff are pleasant and attentive.
The only criticism I would have is that they fell for the tipping model on every transaction. It’s awkward, do I really need to be confronted with a request to tip when I buy a bag of chips? I would much rather they add a surchage or simply increase their prices. It puts the customer on the spot when the employee is standing there watching whether you tip or not.
Kind of ruins an otherwise pleasant experience.
