This nostalgic classic sandwich shop will definitely satisfy your craving for the quintessential egg/chicken (fill in the blank of what you had when you were a kid) salad sandwich and potato chips with sweet tea plus banana pudding!!
FOOD> The bread is so fresh (I have switched to wheat in consideration of my waist line ) but it in no way compromises the taste of of my second favorite sandwich the egg salad pictured here.
You can “make it a meal” and get chips and a drink. I tried lemonade for the first time and it was sweet and tart – obviously some perfected Southern recipe!
They also have soups and other signature sandwiches – some offerings come on a croissant but I figure why mess with perfection

SERVICE> The folks that help here are always so friendly
LOCATION> This gem is located just outside the heart of downtown Greenville. You can get there from the city or from Wade Hampton/ Pleasantburg and the Cherrydale area.
VALUE> The price is reasonable compared to other sandwich shops in town, especially with the drink and chips.
I crave Duke’s and go here regularly for lunch and have NEVER been anything but happy with my experience

Your customer service sucks. I tried calling ahead for 30 minutes or so and no one ever answered. I arrived a little after 230, had a nice little list and only 2 out of 18 sandwiches I WAS going to get were to be toasted and 1 to add extra piece of ham and Duke sauce. They informed me that there was ONLY ready to go sandwiches available and NO special requests. So I said ok and was going ahead with my order and was then asked if wheat bread was ok for the ham sandwich. I politely said no and was then informed AGAIN that there was only ready made sandwiches available. So I told them to just cancel my order! . And also informed them that if they would answer the phone I could have called it in and got what I wanted instead of driving all the way from travelers rest to find out that I couldn’t get it! Bad business, my friends! Bad business! And they didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. I told them that it must be nice not to need any more money for the day! As I WOULD have spent about $40 or so! Not sure if I will go back! EVER

It’s a nest place to visit once. Reasonable pricing. Menu is pretty basic, and so is the food. While there was nothing wrong with it, there’s also little to bring you back. It reminds me of going to a friend’s house and getting fed by his mom when i was young. I got a sandwich, I ate it, there really isn’t anything beyond that to remark on be it good or bad. The staff was quite pleasant and atmosphere was nice.

I do not ever like leaving a bad review. But we left the sandwiches on the table so they knew. First time I have not eaten what I was served in years.
Chicken salad sandwich was premade and refrigerated. So the bread was soggy. Texture awful. I had the peppered ham sandwich. Some type of finely blended potted meat. Mushy texture. Bland taste. Prices are great. But surprising for Greenville. Actually the good reviews are surprising. So we will not give less than 3 in hopes it was a bad day only.
Look at my reviews. I do not give low reviews and don’t want to. But guys…. It was not good. My wife has never walked away from food in her life because she is too nice. She did this time. Don’t refrigerate your sandwiches in advance. That’s cutting a corner that will cost you business. Make them fresh even if you have to increase the price.

I was given someone else’s order on Christmas Eve. After driving 30 minutes home I realize I had someone else order.
I call the customer that was on the ticket to let her know I had her order. I returned to the store with the sandwiches which had been off ice for 1 hour. I had waited over and hour for my order / put the order in 2 weeks prior.
When I got what was supposed to be the correct order, they did not give the ham and cheese sandwiches.
I was told they do not do refunds, was given a frozen cake for my trouble of driving back to the shop. After thawing the poundcake
It tasted old. The asst manager never said sorry, kept looking at me like I did something wrong. I have called twice trying to speak with the Manager or owner, have not had a return call. I spent 200 dollars for an incomplete order and frustrations.

Simple but great food. This place uses a 100 year old recipe for their sandwich spreads. I tried the egg salad BLT and a pimento cheese sandwich ( grilled) and my wife tried a chicken salad sandwich on wheat. We shared a potato salad side. I really like the potato salad because it has an unusual zing that comes from what I think is a hint of clove.if I had to choose just one sandwich it would be the grilled pimiento and cheese sandwich.

Ordered my sandwiches with heavy butter. When sandwiches were brought out, there was no butter and the lady who brought it out told me, “these have no butter”. I told her they were supposed to have extra butter. She took them back and brought them out again saying, “oh, these do have butter.” Then the person that was supposed to be a manager came out yelling at me that, “if these don’t have butter, I don’t know how else to make them.” She was extremely RUDE, with the audacity to yell at me across the dining room. Poorest excuse for a “manager” I’ve seen in a long time and is definitely not there for the customers. Just a shame because we haven’t eaten here in a long time since they closed the other Greenville location. But, drove an hour today to specifically eat here. Guess today proves to be our last. Used to LOVE this place. Guess its gone way down hill.

The girl at the ordering counter was amazing: friendly as can be and very helpful, but I made the mistake of ordering the Premium BLT… I mean What can go wrong with that, right? Well, let me tell you: DO NOT ORDER THE BLT! A 2 year old would have done a better job. I got a sandwich with one 3.5 inch bacon strip, one slice of tomato about 1.5 inches in diameter and a wilted leaf of lettuce, within 2 slices of regular bread that had half a teaspoon of mayonnaise right on the center. That’s it. I would not even pay $1.00 for that anywhere else, had I know it was going to be like that.
However, my friend got the Aloha Ham croissant, which was filled with over a cupful of delicious pineapple/cream cheese spread. Go figure…
Unfortunately, I forgot about taking a picture of it so you could see. Just order something different if you visit this place.
