I need to preface by saying im not from Jacksonville, but go up there a couple times a year. That being said, we are always on Morton Street (I think, its the main street), but decided to see what else is in Jacksoncille, and am so glad we did. The square is so cool, with the perfect small town charm. Now, on to Mulligans, which is on the square. When you first walk in, you notice how amazingly cool the building is. I have no idea how old it is, but I would guess its at least 100 years old. My initial reaction was, “yep, we picked the right place to eat”. The bar was so.ething out of 1876; that is a compliment in the highest regard. Then you notice the hardwood floors, huge ceilings, with the old fashioned tin tiles. There’s a staircase to the left of the bar, which, using my imagination, led to the original owners residence. No clue if this is true, but its what I imagined. If it isnt, please dont tell me and ruin my perception. Our server, the bartender, was awesome. She was supe friendly, and when asked for recommendations, was truthful-excellent work. The reuben was as she described, delicious. As were the waffle fries. My wife said the burger was fresh, and cooked to perfection. She enjoyed her normal fries. I could go on and on about the feel of this place, and the food, but you need to try it for yourself. I could see myself bullying up to the bar, having some cocktails, watching a football game, or F1 race, and enjoying a day. Why is it local places are always so much better than chains? Im looking forward to my next trip to Jacksonville, hopefully during nicer weather, and walking around the square. There will probably be another visit to Mulligans, as well. Jacksonville, you have a gem.

We went here for a baseball team dinner after playing locally . They were super accommodating and got a party of 30 ish people seated.
Had multiple waiters and waitresses helping out as we were spread out over 4 different tables . All were great .
Ordered the homemade chips . One with salt and vinegar flavoring the other was served with a Buffalo dipping sauce . The Buffalo sauce was superb. Really good .
I ordered the horseshoe. Local dish of a protein with fries and then cheese sauce on top of it . I went with breaded pork loin as my protein . Again very good and would definitely order again .

We drove 45 minutes to this establishment. Usually good service and good food. Not this time! Three other tables had food delivered before us. After we asked about the status of our order, it was delivered cold. Hope stocking the bar was more important than hot food and good service! To top it off, the manager on duty seemed to not care!

Came in while restaurant was at about half capacity as a part of a party of 8. I ordered a blue moon, a few others ordered mixed drinks or soda/lemonade. AT LEAST 15 minutes went by, no drinks at all, not even the soda.
Eventually, one of the people in our party walked over to the bar, where all of our drinks were sitting there waiting. By now, a few of the drinks were watered down and my beer was flat.
When the server noticed we grabbed our own drinks, she wasn’t apologetic at all and said “Well, mixed drinks take a long time to make”. I was frustrated enough now that I just skipped getting food. She later told us “You guys seem frustrated, but those mixed drinks do take a long time to make”, but the drinks had already BEEN made for quite a few minutes before WE grabbed the drinks ourselves. That’s not even mentioning that we were missing a dish and got attitude back when we asked about it.
I’ve worked food service before, as have most of the people in our party, so I understand having a bad day, but a simple “I’m so sorry about that” goes a long way. Very rarely have I encountered such poor service from a server.

The food was great, and the service was amazing. It was a little confusing if you aren’t familiar with the restaurant and you first walk in since there are no signs about if you wait to be seated or seat yourself, but just find a seat and they will come to you.

I should’ve trusted my gut when we could smell the grease from cooking as we walked in. The place was somewhat crowded and there was one waitress who was working hard but orders were getting mixed up. She’s getting two stars ONLY because they were short staffed and I feel like she was trying. 10 minutes for a beer, asked for water that never came. One hour in and empty tables finally got cleared, looked like additional help finally showed. Wings were decent, pizza was akin to frozen bar pizza. The bathrooms weren’t clean (another red flag) and it looked like the light switch plate hasn’t been cleaned in a year. Sorry, but no.

Possibly the worst service I have experienced in my almost 40 years on earth. Please send our server sincerest apologies from my family from this weekend who couldn’t be bothered by waiting on us at all and clearly didn’t want to be at work.

Great little pub cool place. The service was quick while we were there and the food came out almost as quick! I was very impressed with both. Never had to ask for anything twice. My drink was always full. The food was fantastic. We will be back again!
