Mel’s is a great Mom & Pop restaurant..
Might be little bit tiny ,but for the food the food is not good but GREAT!
Customer service is outstanding!
I don’t usually rate restaurants but this one is worth rating…..
The owner and his staff make you feel part of the family.
The owner is the cook,what restaurants can you go to where you see the owner actually doing something in there business, especially in a restaurant????
They have 2 waitresses and even though you wait a little while you really don’t mind because they are like family ..
With two waitresses they do a fantastic job on waiting on people.
One more thing ,they don’t except credit cards or debit cards, (they could except credit cards and do better in their business Mel and his family put ,customers comes FIRST ! )
only cash,because they don’t want the customers to be in debt because they came to Mel’s Diner family restaurant.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MEL’S DINER!
Try Mel’s Dinner and you will become family.

Mel’s Diner in Elburn is a hidden gem! Best strawberry banana crepes I have ever had. Crepes were thin and crispy, very flavorful and a hefty size. Fruit was fresh and as if that does not make your mouth water, topped with whipped cream! My husband had the bacon and eggs. Eggs cooked to his specification, bacon crisp and dry. His breakfast came with an ample side of country fried potatoes, golden brown and a stack of 2 huge pancakes. Al, the owner was a great host! Coffee cup was never empty and we were entertained with some great, thoughtful conversation. Come see for yourself, and bring along a few friends!

This place was awful, I think all prior guests are being too polite. Long story short, the sausage was cold and very tasteless , they did make me another one but it yielded the same result. They have no air conditioning which is a freaking joke me and my wife were sweating while eating our food (we are both very fit and used to hot climates ) which is pretty gross if ask me. They talk to you like you are a part of their family which isnt flattering, the cook took a smoke break when we were about to pay and it was such a turn off, he left a disgusting stove behind him which exained where the terrible food came from!!! Also dont order the chicken wrap because what is pictured inside the menu is not what youll get, pictured is a wrap with breast sliced protruding out of the wrap, we got rippy bits of chicken in a wrap which was mostly lettuce. Very very disappointed. We will never return here. Sorry not sorry.
