After reading many good reviews of this restaurant we decided to try it. Glad we did!The venue isn’t fancy so don’t let that put you off. The owners (husband and wife, originally from Paris) do a great job with the food and are very accommodating and friendly. He invites you to tour the kitchen and presents you with the freshly prepared meal options and it all looked great! We opted for the cordon Bleu and beef bourginion – both delicious and generously portioned. There are so many repeat patrons at this establishment and we’ll be among them!

This isn’t our first visit to SXM, but we had never been to this place before—and it instantly became our favorite. We were in the area looking for something to eat with the family. As we walked by, the owner greeted us, but the restaurant looked closed. A quick Google check confirmed they were already past their regular hours.
We asked if it was still possible to get something to eat, and to our surprise, the owner and his wife went out of their way to welcome us. They invited us right into their kitchen, laid out everything they had, and explained each dish so we could choose what we wanted. Their food was incredible—real home-cooked quality. The owners, who run the place themselves, treated us like family, and the whole experience truly felt like being at home.
Their prices are very reasonable, but the hospitality and warmth were priceless. We are forever grateful for their kindness and will certainly be returning.

The owner ‘s, also being the Chef and his wife were the most gracious hosts. They warmly welcomed us into the kitchen showing each dish freshly prepared. Truly one of the greatest meals I have ever had. I ordered the Cordon Blue because my husband raved about it although he chose the pork loin this visit (seriously to die for). I wanted him to enjoy my leftovers as the portions are quite large. If you finish your plate JB is happy to fill it again because his mission is to send you away as satisfied as possible. He has been in business here since 1997. Truly a GEM of a find. Don’t forget the exquisite chocolate mousse If you dinghy up to it there is a good tie up. From the back you cannot see a sign. The treasure lies within.

This restaurant was a hidden gem in Marigot, my girlfriend and I stopped for lunch and were graciously welcomed by the owners individually. They were extremely kind and passionate about what they do and the food they serve, the owner recommended the lasagna as to which the two of us ordered. It was incredible by far the best i’ve ever had. Such a nice pair of people doing what they enjoy, and making great food. would come here again 10/10

JB & his wife are so unbelievably welcoming! My fiancé and I were actually heading to another restaurant just around the corner when we learned it was closed we decided on Le Sous-Marin and JB welcomed us into his kitchen and showed us each menu item an experience neither I nor my Fiancé have ever had before. Each dish smelled and looked mouth watering.
This was a top tier dining experience for us both at the most reasonable cost; in all honesty they could charge much more as the flavour, the portions, the service was all exceptional. Bravo JB & Paula!!!
These Canadians will be back again one day xox

We got the Cordon bleu with cauliflower gratin, Veal with rice and leak sauce, 2 coronas and 1 mousse for $42 / 38€. I’d recommend the cordon with the rice and leak sauce. The food reminds me of my Polish mother’s cooking. Area felt a bit scary, but many other people come here for lunch at 12:30.

What fun at Sous Marin with French country cooking at its best! JB and his beautiful wife are so welcoming and JB so comedic, making us feel like family. We had such a lovely time in this unassuming but warm resto full of locals, just off the Marigot marina. Despite being very busy JB gave us the privileged tour of the kitchen and detail of every dish – all home made. So hard to make a decision! We finally had the Blanchette de veau and Boeuf bourguignon with courgette gratin. JB fills your wine glass, spoon fed us the first taste of excellent chocolate mousse and kept us entertained throughout. And the pear almond tarte was superb. Tasty, generous plates of food lovingly prepared and served. A welcome repas.
Large parking lot alongside.

We have been coming here for 12 years every year when we are in Saint Maarten. They cook absolutely high quality homemade food, in small batches, fresh, and at a very reasonable price. If you want to eat something really delicious, come here once or more. I recommend them with all my heart❤️

An absolute must! I repeat…an absolute must.
No menu to read. The owner and chef (JB) will take his time explaining what he has. You can even tour the kitchen. The best lasagna I ever had. The best cordon Bleu I ever had. And don’t forget the chocolate mousse. Simply divine. I will be coming back to St Maarten and back to JB and Paula for the food.
