Lovely vibe. Beautifully decorated old building that shares its heritage with you. The service was delightful; warm, welcoming and embracing. It was like being welcomed into a home.
I ordered vegetable samosas to start, which were lovely. Hot, crispy and just enough in terms of portion size. They were served with a selection of chutneys; a mint and coriander salsa verde, coconut flesh, sweet tamarind, and a spicy pickle. Each was very good and was a perfect partner to the samosas.

Then came aloo baigan, an aubergine and potato curry. This was excellent, delightfully seasoned and spiced. Delicate, moorish and satisfying. The balance of potatoes and aubergine was superb, and the aubergine was cooked very well. It was served with basmati rice, which was great and a butter naan. The naan fell a little short of my expectations. It was buttery and tasted lovely, but its texture was closer to a chapati than a naan. There was hardly any rise, which is typical of all naans I’ve eaten before. That said, it was a very good accompaniment.
My only minor suggestion would be to heat the plates before serving if possible.

I left replete, relaxed and with a smile on my face.
In summary, I was very happy with the meal and would recommend a visit.

I’ve eaten curry àll over the world… íncluding North & South India… If you want a truly authentic, awesome curry, THíS place is for YOU! Nothing fancy in decor… but food, mango juice ànd service will not disappoint! Yes… no meat.. and I love meat, but I NEVER even thought of meat whilst delving into the curries!!! Not packed with tourists! JUST awesome, tasty curry & naans!!

My latest find is a vegetarian Indian spot that favours flavour over fanfare. The channa masala and okra curry were genuinely impressive; vibrant, well-spiced, and clearly prepared with fresh ingredients. While the interior is unpretentious and the service is quite laid-back, the quality of the cooking more than makes up for the lack of polish.

The value here is the real standout. At under 25 USD, it was a far superior meal to the 100+USD “fine dining” experience I had the night before at a local rooftop haunt. It is a straightforward, authentic establishment that doesn’t feel the need to overcomplicate things.

If you prioritise a plate of honest, traditional food over a high-gloss programme, this is an easy recommendation. It is refreshing to pay for the cooking rather than the views or interior design.

This restaurant is a good reason to visit Stown Town again!

Great service, awesome delicious and authentic Indian Cuisine and a great place to stay for dinner!

Just keep in mind: no meat available! This is vegetarian and vegan only and everything (allergies etc.) is clearly labelled!

The food was exceptionally tasty, really impressive flavors! Naan bread absolutely delicious! However, the portion sizes were quite small, which was disappointing. Ordering a second portion would have made the meal too expensive, especially considering the longer waiting time for food…

This is legitimately some of the best Indian food my wife and I have ever had. Vegetarian options only, but so flavorful and delicious, we did not mind being herbivores for the evening (usually not the case)!

So good for our first night in Stone Town dinner, we went back for the 2nd!

Aloo Gobi, Korma, Makiani, Biryani, Naans, and the fresh juices were all fantastic!

We reached here craving for Indian food post our Kilimanjaro Trek on the way to Zanzibar resort. We ordered dosa, samosa chat, roti, rice, dal, yogurt and seviya/jamun for desert. It was a completly fullfiling experience. This is probably the closest Indian food in taste we got since we left India. Highly recommed this no nonsense place serving great veg food. It was surprising to hear the chef is not even Indian.

A great mixed vegetable curry with a chilli cheese naan, washed down with a 500ml Safari beer. Staff were efficient and friendly. The restaurant was reasonably busy which is always a good sign. It’s off the main drag so the prices are more reasonable. I would definitely recommend a visit.
