Happy mother’s day to the best mother/wife on this planet/universe. We just got back from vacation and Michele wanted sushi so we went to the best place in Raleigh Kai sushi. Alway the best and the steamed dumplings are the best. We always get the Darth Vader and the Dark knight tonight we also ordered the snap dragon, volcano and the black widow. All their rolls are amazing.

Decent sushi. I had the Tuna Titaki which was the better of the 2 things I had for lunch. It was a nice twist to what you normally get at most places. This dish came with 3 different kind of tuna with a light sear. Fresh and tasty, for sure. I had their Black Widow roll, and it was not so great. Had an unpleasant fishy taste to it (not so fresh). Their menu consisted of a lot of “spicy” versions of their fish, which usually means that it isn’t as fresh. Would have loved to have seen more of a variety of fresh fish rolls. Worth a try, though.

Sushi was OK. I don’t like all the crab salad In the rolls instead of actual crabsticks. For the price, the quality was not really up to standard. We really miss Tokyo House.

Kai is one of the better options to get sushi in Raleigh. I prefer getting the nigiri here rather than the rolls. (I recommend the eel). A number of the rolls have cream cheese, which I tend to avoid, but the fish taste fresh. Overall, I always get a good meal here but it is pricey and sometimes there’s a long wait to get a table.

If you were to ask me where to get the best sushi in Raleigh, I would immediately say Kai with zero hesitation. I discovered this restaurant with my family a couple years ago & no matter how many new places I try, they just don’t compare. With amazing 3 & 5 roll specials, the Crazy K & Shrimp Tempura rolls are always my go to. Their flavor combinations are harmonious with the perfect rice to filling ratio & sauces. The Piano, Angry Tuna, & Dark Knight are also other notable rolls loved by friends who’ve tried Kai per my recommendation.

Their rolls are beautifully balanced with some of the best sauce and creative combinations in the area. Consistently well made and satisfying. Even when I eat too much, I do not feel unwell or have an upset stomach. I miss the hibachi because my husband does not like sushi, and it was also delicious, with beef so tender and tasty. Nothing but good things to say.

Would not recommend. The reviews really led me astray here. I thought it was going to be so good but it so wasn’t. I guess people like it because the portions are huge and they give complimentary edamame to the table? Even so, it’s not worth the price. We came late on a Saturday night and they were obviously busy so the host took our name and number and said he would call us. We sat in our car to wait. No big deal we were willing to wait. After an hour of waiting, an hour before they close, we were worried we might not be seated before they close and would need to make alternate dinner plans so we came back to the host stand. He was not there, and the restaurant was half empty. We saw he had crossed our name off the list, even though he never called us. The guy was super unprofessional, clearly more interested in gossiping with his coworker than doing his job, and had his earbuds on and was the only staff member not wearing a staff shirt. Not off to a great start for service. He gestured to a table for us to sit and we waited 10 minutes watching the staff chit chatting around the bar before anyone even brought us water. We ordered right away because we had spent the time in the car looking at the menu. We watched tables who were seated after us get their food before us. When our food came, it was nothing like the menu described. Allegedly there was avocado and cucumber in the Spider roll but I couldn’t find it. We flagged a waitress down to get the check because again, the staff was just not paying attention to the tables at all.

Some of the best and best priced sushi in North Raleigh. One of our favorites for dine-in or takeout. Great roll selection. Definitely try the salmon and amberjack appetizers.

Indoor and outdoor seating accompanied by friendly staff and amazing food. Hands down the seaweed salad and Black Panther sushi roll was absolutely delicious! They have specials on by more than one roll like the 5 for $55. The service was quick and professional, amazing place!
