I really didn’t want to have to write this review, but unfortunately, I feel it’s necessary. I have been a loyal customer of Nightcap for nearly three years, as it was close to the apartment where I lived during graduate school.

On my most recent visit, I was accused of my real ID (the same one I have used at this bar for the past three years) not being mine. The waitress’ exact words were, “Did you dye your hair?” I replied, “Yes, it used to be blonder.” She then responded by yelling, “I don’t think this is your ID—it doesn’t even remotely look like you, so I’m not going to serve you,” and walked away to speak with the other bartenders without explaining what was happening. To add fuel to the fire, this happened after we had been seated for nearly 20 minutes without being served.

When she brought my ID to the other bartenders, they seemed to disagree with her assessment but ultimately supported her decision not to serve me, even though it was one of four forms of identification I had with me, all clearly showing my photo and closely matching the image on my license. One of those additional forms of ID also listed my birthdate. The waitress also presented a very different narrative to the bartenders which presented her in a better light, which was witnessed by my girlfriend and another friend who was at the bar with us. For additional context, the Ohio license I presented is embossed and contains varied textures and security features that would be extremely difficult to reproduce. It is also nearly four years old, so it is reasonable that I may look somewhat older than my photo from when I was 21. It seems entirely plausible we were being discriminated against as queer people in this space.
I completely understand concerns about fake IDs, especially in a college town. However, considering that I am nearing 25 and have never once been accused of having a fake ID, (even while living in Texas during college with an Ohio license), the situation was surprising and frustrating.

More importantly, the way this was handled was extremely unprofessional. If there are concerns about an ID, they should be addressed respectfully and clearly, not with yelling and hostility. The interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, and it makes me concerned about how other customers may be treated by this waitress on a regular basis, given her already inconsistent and poor customer service before my ID was looked at.

I hope management will take this as an opportunity to review ID verification processes and reinforce appropriate customer service expectations for staff, as this was completely unacceptable. I will be telling my friends to find another nice cocktail bar to go to as graduate students, as clearly this bar is hostile and unwelcoming. I intend to call in the next few days.

I had one of the worst bar experiences here. Not only did we find serious hygiene issues, but the staff’s attitude was shockingly rude.

We first ordered two drinks in the evening. After finishing our first cocktail, I noticed a bug inside the ice cube. I took a photo and poured it out to double-check. Right then, the waitress brought my second drink (3rd dry in this order). She mentioned she could make another one but never once apologized.

Later, to my disbelief, we found the same issue in the second drink — another bug. When I pointed this out, instead of acknowledging the problem, the waitress started accusing me of “yelling” at her and claimed she never even saw the bug in the first glass. She insisted that their bar was “super clean” and denied responsibility.

Only after I demanded at least a refund did she reluctantly say she would refund and felt apologetic for this, in the most insincere way possible, even telling us “the door’s open, you can leave.”

This is unacceptable — two contaminated drinks in a row, zero accountability, and a complete lack of respect for customers. I will never come back, and I strongly advise others to think twice before visiting.

Entrance is not that obvious but inside has nice warm interior.
Good for nice chat for a group or a date.
Had Bee’s Knees; lemon might be too strong for some.

Bartenders Jordan and Ian were fantastic and a great time talking with on a Thursday! Drinks were great and they were great at suggestions! Such a vibe! I’m not from the area but will come back again if I’m staying in the area:)

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting — perfect for a relaxed evening out. What really made the night special, though, was Jordan. They went above and beyond with personalized drink recommendations that matched each of our tastes perfectly. Every cocktail was spot-on — creative, balanced, and beautifully presented.

It’s rare to find a place where you feel both welcomed and truly looked after, but Nightcap nails it. Whether you’re a cocktail enthusiast or just out for a good time, this is definitely the spot. Can’t wait to come back!

Meh about sums it up. When you walk in it seems like a very cool vibe, but the seating is wildly uncomfortable. My six foot plus friend was playing Goldilocks trying to find a seat that wasn’t extremely narrow and making him hunch over his knees. Even the backless barstools were uninviting. Avoid the penicillin cocktail, its smell is only outdone by its taste. The lychee caipirinha was the only saving grace of our time there, which was brief. The “seasonal” cocktail list is full of frozen and tropical drinks in January. The service was ok, the whole place feels like it’s been left to its own devices and just going through the motions.

I loved all the options for deliciously crafted beverages here. The waitress provided excellent recommendations based on what we liked to drink. The Negroni was perfect – slightly bitter, but otherwise smooth. The seating was unconventional yet comfortable. And the decor is lovely. When you walk in, you feel transported. I’d totally return and recommend.

Jordan and Ian were very nice and took care of us, slow coast vodka was great and had a good time. If your into r&b music this is the chill place to be.

Ordered drinks with the QR code and waited and waited for my drinks. 35 minutes

I looked around and realised tables were also waiting.
Also paid for a tip. Obviously not for speedy service
I asked the server why it took so long and she took offence.
I would like to hear from the management they are clearly pressuring the staff by over working. I WANT THE TIPP BACK AND YOU SHOULD PAY

What an excellent little cocktail bar! It has classic drinks, unique seasonal offerings, tiki drinks, beer, ciders, seltzers, wines, lots of zero proof options – there’s something for everyone! The drinks are excellent and you can tell that a lot of their ingredients and syrups are made in-house! They keep the lighting dark and cozy, service is friendly and attentive, and the music is the perfect volume to add ambiance but not drown out conversation. The only drawback to this place is that there is no food at all, just drinks on the menu. However, I guess that also allows them to direct all of their focus on making high-quality drinks, so I don’t really mind it. Overall, Nightcap lives up to its name – go get dinner somewhere down the street and then head on over to Nightcap for a round of after-dinner cocktails!
