I had a wonderful time at Saveur Creole! The Tasso was outstanding , perfectly seasoned with that bold, smoky Creole flavor. The food was hearty and satisfying. If you’re looking for an authentic Creole dining experience, this is the place to go.

#1Haitian restaurant in East Coast. Customer service 5 Michelin stars. Decor atmosphere beautiful , food presentation 10/10 flavor 9/8. It’s also BYOB. The wife and the kids took me there for my birthday. The best experience ever. Can’t wait to go back again especially in Summer time. Trust me if you’re ever in Jersey give it a try. Seating in the upscale of Montclair. Saver Creole thank you for the experience.

I enjoy this restaurant so much! The food the atmosphere and service are top notch. If you’re looking for an authentic Haitian food option with a fine dining experience, Saveur will definitely hit the spot. The menu is filled with tasty options, but one of my favorites that’s actually not on the menu, is the Griot Kale Salad. You can order the salad as the main meal or smaller appetizer portion. I would also highly recommend the Steak (perfectly seasoned) and or the Branzino Au Beurre. You can’t go wrong with either. You can tell the owner takes a lot of pride in the presentation of everything! The food especially, but the aesthetics of the restaurant as well. That’s super important to me, I don’t mind spending a coin, but give me the experience! Saveur has mastered not only the food, but the experience.

Amazing food! I only wish I could afford to come eat here everyday! Beautifully decorated inside!

The owner Ron was very friendly. He chatted with us for a little.

Service was on point! Plates were cleared as soon as we were done.

I’ve been looking for a Haitian restaurant for sometime. Most are too far or just take out places. So when we drove by accidentally. We had to come back and try the food. Did not disappoint! Everything was delicious.

Beef Legume was delicious. Goat Stew was good, hubby loved it, I’m not a fan of goat though. Montego Bay Beef was excellent. Griot Mi Casa was perfect, not too greasy but nice and crispy. The Mambo Gumbo was SPICY! Be warned ⚠️ Bouillion Créole was perfect. Black rice was good but too much cloves for my taste. Passion Fruit Mango was yummy. Lemonade was refreshing.

I’m wondering how I missed the negative reviews which I now 100% believe but I remembered I skipped reading the reviews when making my reservation since this is the 2nd time I’ve been to this restaurant.

Although the food is good – the customer service from the owner today left a bad taste in my mouth. I made this reservation 3 weeks ago for Father’s Day and had no idea it was ONLY pre-fixe menu. Usually restaurants inform guests so they know what to expect so you can accommodate for children, vegetarians, people with allergies, or special needs. My brother wanted to bring home food for his sick wife and the waitress said no so I asked to speak with the owner. The owner called us “high maintenance“ and told me I need to “read the room” because it’s busy. He basically said the more time he talks to us, the more time is wasted. He was so rude, so I let him know it’s most likely because the entire restaurant is full and there’s only 1 waitress and a busboy, on a Holiday at that. He decided to berate me, as if I’m a child. Sir, I’ve visited restaurants around the entire world and this was the worst hospitality ever. After some pushback he agreed to let us take a pre-fixe meal home but we’d have to wait. When the bill came I tried to explain to the waitress the to-go order was not on the bill and she left (I assumed to ask the owner about it) and came back and said it wasn’t being made at all. Then the owner comes with the food, hands it to my brother and when I tried to tell him it wasn’t on the bill he said “Why are you in business you don’t belong again?” Actually, it’s my business because I’m the one paying the $600+ bill with already included 20% gratuity – which I only did not ask him to lower because the busboy was phenomenal. I think the owner spoke to me like that because I’m a woman. The waitress realized what I was trying to tell her before about the bill and brought me a separate check which wasted more time that I was trying to save her. Unbelievably rude customer service by the owner. The waitress and busboy were clearly overwhelmed but the waitress made sure to sing Happy Birthday to my brother which I appreciated. Another piece of advice from someone who frequents restaurants, put the description of the dish under the dish name for pre-fixe, especially if it’s not cooked in a traditional way for people who have never been to the restaurant and have never read the menu. Imagine my dad’s disappointment when he orders Lambi and it’s made as a ceviche. It would save time of people asking questions. I also wish they played Konpa music. I could see people around our table enjoyed the Happy Birthday song. I’m embarrassed I chose this place to bring my family, which is a shame because I love to support my fellow Haitians.

Where do I start?? I love Creole food and all the items we ordered were delicious, so no complaints there. Ambience was also pretty good, kind of in between fine dining and family friendly. Unfortunately, I cannot give 5 Stars simply because we had a really bad experience w.r.t. upselling by our Waitress. We all expect the staff to upsell but it should not be done in an underhanded manner.

Our visit was almost a year back (just catching up on some of my pending reviews). We were never given an option of Tap or Bottled water, and the waitress just filled our glasses whenever we asked for water, but she failed to mention it was Bottled water ($5 per Bottle). She also asked us if we would like Regular or Black Rice, to be served with our Entrées, but didn’t mention that it was additional cost ($15). We were in for a rude surprise when we got the cheque since it was at least $100 more than what we expected.

Manager/Owner did eventually take it off the final cheque but it took some lengthy discussion. This might be an one-off scenario, and hope other patrons didn’t experience this.

I use to live in the area; now everytime I am back, I always hit this restaurant for a taste of home. Delicious Haitian food, great customer service. I love the new addition and art work on the walls! The restaurant is over 12 years strong ❤️ Ron thank you!
