I’m a fan from the to-go coffee I always grab when I’m going through Barryville, to the alpine goat omlette. Very nice little country place with nice people, good food, and tasty coffee priced fairly.

I never leave bad reviews but I’m leaving this review because of how the situation was handled, not because of the mistake itself.
I ordered the gluten-free chicken quesadilla. When it came out, it had no chicken — just cheese, not a big deal mistakes happen. When I let the server know, she took the plate to “show the kitchen” before I could even finish explaining.( I was originally planning to order another one anyway) I didn’t get a chance to clarify anything and was left sitting without food while my boyfriend continued eating. She didn’t even return to update us on the situation.
While waiting for a new one, I overheard the server and another staff member talking about the situation and implying that I was somehow at fault or trying to get something for free. That was extremely uncomfortable, unprofessional and not the case AT ALL.
I’ve worked in the service industry. Mistakes happen — that’s not the issue. It’s the lack of communication, the gossiping within earshot of guests, and the way the situation was handled that left a bad impression. I’m guessing our server was new so I’m not even mad, she just needs better training. However the other staff member she was speaking with was so nasty and accusatory I couldn’t believe it. I hope management addresses this, as it’s not a good look for the business. Anyway the quesadilla itself was great lol.

I ordered a hamburger, it looked weird, maybe something was mixed in with it. It had no taste at all.
The service was fast.
We remember the other diner that used to be there, the decor was warm & cozy. This place reminded us of a bathroom. Too much white tile, not too many decorations. Just didnt so it for us.

Been coming here for over a year now on a steady basis .. fantastic place. Food is really delicious and serving sizes are impressive. Most important are the folks and servers that run the place they take real pride in what they do day in and day out, highly recommended. Free coffee for first responders which is very kind of them too. Thanks )

A diner worth traveling to! The Hungry Goat is a hidden gem deep in the woods of a small town called Barryville NY. The wood is cooked to perfection, the service is excellent and who doesn’t like eating with a bunch of goats!? Highly recommend checking it out and this is coming from someone who lives 2 hours away deep in Jersey surround by many diners!

Absolutely perfect in every way. We stopped by for breakfast and were immediately made to feel like we were visiting a family member. The service is top notch, friendly. The staff genuinely care about the customer leaving just a bit happier and satiated than when they had come in. The food is made with love, and just the right amount of seasoning. Coffee is plentiful, strong, and can give any dinner a run for its money. The experience was so good that we came back every morning for our entire stay, which is something we have never done before. Omelettes, waffles, really left a strong impression.

This might have been the worst experience ever. Me and my family were going to this place to get some ice cream. And then we ordered it finally after repeating our order because this bigger lady was on her phone and then we had to wait 25 mins for just some ice cream and to make matters worse they got all of my whole family’s toppings wrong and even got me and my dads icecream flavors wrong and then they gave my mom one scoop instead of two. and than when my mom asked super nicely for one more scoop ,cause she only got one and ordered two, the bigger lady slammed the window in my moms face. If you guys want to know who the worker was it was was bigger lady.

Everything was nice about this place, they were just really busy. Could probably use some more staff. Otherwise it was tasty food and relaxed atmosphere. Hoping they get the extra staff they need because all together it’s a fantastic spot! Pet and children friendly.
