We recently visited La Porto in Billingham with a group of students from Abbey Hill Sixth Form, for their Christmas meal, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience.
The service was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and genuinely accommodating, making sure every one of our students felt comfortable and well looked after. Their kindness and patience made a real difference.
The food was delicious — every dish came out beautifully presented and full of flavour. All of our students thoroughly enjoyed their meals. One of our students was seated where he could see into the kitchen and became very curious about what was happening behind the scenes. Despite being busy, the chef kindly took the time to answer all of his questions, which meant a great deal to him and to us.
The atmosphere was wonderful, warm, and inclusive, helping make the day feel really special for our group. We truly felt looked after and valued throughout our visit.
We would definitely return and highly recommend La Porto to anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming environment. Thank you for a memorable Christmas meal!

Fantastic English Breakfast!
The breakfast was absolutely delicious everything cooked perfectly! The egg was fresh, the bacon crispy, and the sausage full of flavour. The toast was golden and buttery, and the beans, black pudding and tomatoes gave it that classic English touch. The portion was generous, and the coffee was hot and strong, just the way it should be. The service was friendly and quick, and the place had a lovely, cozy atmosphere. Definitely one of the best English breakfasts I’ve had highly recommend!

My daughter found this place by accident for my 9yo grandsons birthday treat and we were not dissapointed! A small cosy place and the staff are lovely.

Booked a table for 5 for lunch today and what a fab place, all the starters, mains and deserts where delicious, presentation of the food was perfect .. staff were friendly and attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Food prices are excellent too . We had a lovely time in there and would definitely recommend this gorgeous restaurant to anyone and everyone.. well done La Porto

Great atmosphere, lovely friendly attentive staff, but the food isn’t the best. There’s far too much choice on the menu.
I had the pollo pancetta, it’s a bit odd that it came with what can only be called the blandest 3 pieces of veg and boil in the bag rice. It didn’t taste horrible, just not what I’d expect in terms of quality.
The pizza was a bit odd, I’d have thought sun-dried tomatoes may have worked better, and the crust was far too thick.
The carbonara tasted like it was a microwave sauce or a ready meal, definitely not authentic Italian carbonara.
Again, the food wasn’t horrible, but it’s not amazing.

Amazing food and fabulous service. Always made to feel so welcome, it’s like dining with your best friends and family. Our favourite place to eat. Absolutely blown away with the quality every time we visit.
First visit since COVID, so pleased to see that apart from social distancing and exceptional sanitisation, this place is exactly the same. Fabulous food, very friendly service and so good to be back. Missed dining here, but we’ll have to try to make up for it!!
