China Wok on Langston Road in Winterville, NC, was a culinary surprise in many ways, though not all of them were pleasant. I ventured in, craving a comforting plate of Chinese cuisine, only to find prices slightly higher than the average for takeout. I ordered a modest serving of wings—just four pieces for a surprising $8. Although the wings were crispy and well-seasoned, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a tad steep for the quantity provided.
On a more positive note, the beef lo mein was quite enjoyable; the noodles were cooked to perfection, and the beef was tender and flavorful, complementing the dish beautifully. However, what really caught me off guard was the service. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, my order took an unexpectedly long time to arrive. As I waited, my anticipation began to wane, overshadowed by the clock ticking away.
In retrospect, China Wok offers a mix of quality dishes and somewhat inflated prices, paired with a service time that could use some fine-tuning. While I left satisfied with my meal, I couldn’t help but hope for a quicker turnaround on my next visit. Overall, it was a surprising experience, leaving me both satisfied and perplexed.

Don’t waste your money. You will regret it. I got the chicken Cantonese with extra gravy. The chicken was nothing but crust cooked so hard. I could not even chew it. The gravy was so dark and runny. It was nothing like Cantonese gravy is supposed to be. The rice was hard and the egg roll tasted like it had been fried old grease.
The worst Cantonese I have ever eaten. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before I ordered.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for over a decade and sometimes weekly. They always smile and greet me when I arrive. The food is really good and the prices are outstanding for the amount of food you get. One of the men who work there used to be over where New China is back in the early 2000s but then he relocated and eventually ended up at China Wok and I remembered him from back then. Great spot!

I’m from NY so I know good Chinese food and I love it! First off China Wok was an amazing surprise and I’m so glad we picked them to try! I couldn’t hear and/or quite understand what was being said on the phone at first so instead of being impatient and rude someone else was put on the phone who was equally as patient and kind.. which really means a lot! Food arrived tasty and hot, didn’t even get a pic cause I ate it so fast. I got the beef with mixed vegetables which was delicious as well as the egg roll that came with it, perfect snap and crunch that you want in an egg roll with a really tasty filling (I’m weird and normally add soy sauce to my egg rolls but with this one I didn’t need any!) Lastly I got the wonton soup which I honestly didn’t like as much as the rest of it but don’t knock it until you try it.. it may have just been me or even an off day for soup! Love to see thriving businesses like this run with kindness, talent, and professionalism! I will definitely be getting food here again when I am back down south.

Decent local chinese food spot. Delicious fried chicken wings and garlic beef. And don’t even get me started on their spare rib tips. Not to mention they DELIVER which is effing amazing. Next time you’re craving chinese check em out. 4 Stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
