Went around 11 am, the time when most carts open. We were one of the first customers to be there. Went around to look at the great variety of choices and i picked this Pepper Salted Squid and it didn’t disappoint! Great crunch, seasoning and just the right portion.
Though would be nice if it comes with whatever dip. (Vinegar, aioli, tartar) thats just me.
Will be back to try their other food

Best salt and pepper who’s you’ll ever try, this is only my boyfriend and i’s second time trying. But… it’s the best food we’ve ever had.
We tried the half squid and half shrimp and the surf and turf!
The meat in the surf and turf was out of this world, the portions are huge and worth every penny!
Definitely stop by and give this place a try! WE LOVE IT !!

Okay let me explain. To the OG’s in the area + familiar with Tieng Hong on Sandy (Portland).. & this is (Huge Compliment) as good as it ever was before COVID… Get you some!
Description: Lightly floured, super crispy, 0 (rubber-like chew), perfectly seasoned, bits of (sauteed/pan fried white + green onion).. salty, white peppery, crispy umami. Perfect pairing with white rice.
Opinions/Tips: This is a savory dish, very much so. I like pairing a pallet cleanser with this meal. Cucumber works best imo because of the water content (to cleanse + balance out the umami-ness) If that makes sense… (Similar to how a decadent dessert might be “too rich” to enjoy in full bites/large amounts. Diluting the concentrated flavor like in fruit juices)

Love the pepper salted squid here! Sou’s is the only place I go to get my fix. Hubby got half squid and shrimp plate. I have a hard time finishing my plate; he serves a good portion. Hubby will gladly help me clean my plate though. You can see by the photos love and flavor goes into each plate.

Salt and pepper squid is a must! We also tried the surf and turf, the shrimp were amazing and the mac salad could be a meal on its own. Overall, very tasty and affordable. PS – Get the squid!

Hours are constantly changing. They don’t even leave their “new hours” up for longer than a few days. I’ve made plans 4 different times with people to go and we’ll check the instagram DAY OF to see that the hours have changed. No announcements no posts or updates just changing the instagram bio. Last Saturday we checked the hours. Open on Sunday. Then come Sunday they change it again. So okay we’ll try Thursday. Now Thursday checking and they close Thursday and open now on Sunday??? Make up your mind please and quit changing the hours every day. Below are all images that are 1-2 weeks old. You’ll notice the hours are all DIFFERENT on their instagram and completely different than Google, and different than their instagram post’s set schedule. It feels like they just wake up and decide if they wanna go to work or not and change the schedule.

Lives up to their motto, it is the best Chinese style salt and pepper squid you can find on the west side. Perfect blend of salty, sweet and crispy. Love that they use the squid legs as well as the body because the legs are the crunchiest.

I have gone twice now and gotten the Surf & Turf with Squid and it has been amazing each time! The squid perfectly seasoned and fried, the beef so well sauced and tasty. The mac salad is some of the best I’ve ever had!
