Classic old school diner. The decor was old, in a good way. Nothing had been changed in decades and that’s the way you want a diner to be.
The food prices were mostly really well priced or even cheap. Soda and sides were expensive, however…($3.75 for a soda with one refill) Compared to everything else anyway. Not a massive issue but something to consider.
They have a fairly large menu of diner classics like burgers, chicken strips, and all day breakfast. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the value was excellent. I had a patty melt, which was pretty flavourful but kind of small for $8. My side of onion rings were good and $5.75
Also important to know that it is cash only. So be prepared.
The service was…..meh. The 3 waitresses were very loud and talking about their lives so we could all could hear which I thought was bizarre and not something I was expecting to hear. On top of that they were kind of slow and had to wait around too long to pay the check. But it wasn’t meal ruining as I wasn’t in a big hurry. Just something to note.
All in all it was a decent little place to stop for lunch and I do plan to give it a go again in the future. If you’re in the area try it out.

This was one of the best diners that we have ever been to.We’ve been living over this way for a very long time.And we have never made it into this diner until the other day.We don’t usually go that way.We usually go the other way if everyone knows what I mean.So we were down in town doing some things.And we decided to go down for some breakfast.I couldn’t wait to go and try it.This place is great, perfect place.Perfect setup.Perfect parking plenty.Plenty plenty of parking handicapped parking plenty of seating.There was no wait, there’s seating at the front of the diner near the register, so you can sit up and talk to everybody.And have coffee.They have tons of food tons of specials.When we went, they had five different kinds of pie that day, and a couple different kinds of special.Soup, everything was so nice and clean.Everybody was so nice.The people working were nice. Our waitress was very, very, very nice.She was very happy that we came in.She told us she couldn’t wait for us to come back.I can’t wait to go back.The food was awesome.We had the cheese omelet with toast sausage gravy and biscuit it was huge.We were full.This place was awesome and they had everything!!!!

Phillip’s Diner is a great hometown establishment with a full menu served all day long. A recent review stated false claims of deception due to not accepting credit cards. Cash only with ATM on site. Credit cards add operational costs to any business and would be passed onto the customer’s they serve. Great food, low cost and friendly atmosphere certainly rise above the need to use credit or debit cards. 70 plus years of serving Ogdensburg and surrounding communities. Bring cash, you won’t be disappointed.

Five Star Rating all around. Great staff, very polite and super friendly. The establishment is well decorated and set up. The food… Wow! Very delicious and the portion sizes for the prices cannot be beat. Very easy to navigate to and from. Plenty of parking. Loved reading about their history and how it’s been going for 95 years to date! I definitely recommend this place. I wish them many many more wonderful years of business.

Old diner feel, could use an update for sure. Be aware it’s cash only they do have a bank machine with a 2 dollar fee, was $31 Canadian for my burger after all was said and done. Pretty basic food, frozen patty and frozen fries… Would have given it three or four stars but the gravy and their boom boom sauces on point. Would only go back again if I have cash. One last point the burger could have used some lettuce onions and tomato bring it up a notch.

My experience: 6 flies at any given time landing on you or your food. My mistake for ordering fish and chips in a small town diner sure, but to be fair I did ask how it was and the waitress said it was good, and said they use a homemade batter. But the fish was cooked to the point where I couldn’t even bite through most of it and the fries were cheap. lol I am still giving 5 stars anyway because the main reason you go is for the atmosphere of a small town diner that countless generations and circumstances have passed through – since 1948! one element that adds to the atmosphere is the musky smell, particularly if you’re sitting by the wooden part of the interior.

This place does not take cards, cash only. I asked the server why there is no sign out front stating they are cash only and the answer I got was “the owner is afraid that will keep people from stopping in”. Well, I will not come back because this place seems to think it’s OK to purposely deceive customers. I will be sure to let others know this is a cash only place and best to avoid. Servers and food were great. The deception was not so great.
