Pronto is an Italian restaurant located in the very heart of Santa Teresa, within the Wave mall, also offering a bar service (coffee and cocktails). In addition to a very welcoming indoor space that’s ideal for rainy seasons and perfect for hosting events and private parties, in the summer our guests can enjoy the outdoor bar Tikiliano to savor a drink in the open square of the mall. The kitchen at Pronto is led by the authentically Italian Chef Giuseppe Morisco, known to many for his standout appearance on MasterChef USA, and offers a variety of traditional dishes and creative takes on the world’s finest culinary recipes—of course, those made in Italy!

Reviews
Food was excellent. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs, focaccia, and a water — total was around 22,000 CRC. It’s not the cheapest Italian in town, but the quality (and the portion sizes) make it feel worth it. The pasta/meatballs combo tasted really well-made and satisfying, and the focaccia was a perfect add-on.
Overall, this feels like a true top spot for Italian in Santa Teresa — lots of places do pizza, but not everyone delivers on flavor and quality like this. Would definitely come back.
REPLY TO BUSINESS OWNER:
We treated your staff gently, you are the business taking advantage of tourist. You guys put agave in my espresso martini when I asked to make it sweeter, in what world does that mean use agave instead of simple syrup? Your recipe for the espresso martini was never changed. I asked instead of vodka use tequila. Your replies to all negative reviews are hilarious. Not once do you take accountability and everytime you are blaming the customer. In this industry it wont take you far. The busser that night attended our table did an amazing job and he did it swiftly. The server was horrible. Not once did we disrespect him. Where was the manager to ask me about why I didnt like the espresso martini? 0 hospitality, all you do is take advantage of tourist. Be better.
*Editing after owners response: I actually spent $66 for these two pizzas that were incorrect and undercooked.
The owner publicly suggested I have ties to a competing restaurant in town. This is false. I am simply a customer who paid $66 for two medium pizzas (one was simply extra cheese) that arrived undercooked and incorrect. My review reflects my actual experience only. In fact, if you did think that I had affiliation with another restaurant, that would explain why I was treated so rudely. I am a finance manager in the USA. I’m just on vacation like everybody else.
I stand by everything I wrote: wrong order, undercooked food, and poor service. Accusing customers instead of addressing the issue is disappointing and says a lot about ownership.
We were offered water in a way that made it seem complimentary, however at the end we were charged $25 for two bottles of water, which felt misleading and not transparent. According to Articles 187 and 251 of the Regulations to Law No. 7472 (Promotion of Competition and Effective Consumer Protection Law) in Costa Rica, restaurants are required to clearly display the final prices to consumers. This was not the case here, as the menu prices do not include the 13% VAT and the 10% service charge, which are added afterward.
Additionally, the restaurant does not allow splitting the bill. In my opinion, this is an outdated policy that should be clearly communicated at the beginning of the service or visibly displayed to customers. This was not done, which reflects a negligent practice considering common service standards and usual practices in Costa Rica.
Overall, for the price level, I expected far better transparency and customer service.

I would like to clarify an important point. The server simply asked us if we would like “a bottle of water.” There was no mention of the brands, such as Acqua Panna or San Pellegrino, and no indication that these were premium bottled waters or what their price would be. Because of this, it felt like a standard water offering rather than a premium product.
My review was not based on the assumption that bottled water should be complimentary. Rather, it was about transparency in how items are presented to customers. In good customer service, it is normal for staff to guide guests through available options and clearly communicate what is being served and its cost. This helps avoid misunderstandings and ensures a transparent experience, which unfortunately was not our experience.
It should not be assumed that every guest will immediately recognize etiquette, or brand on a bottle and know its price beforehand. A brief explanation from the staff would have easily prevented this situation.
Regarding the food, my comment about the cuisine being “neutral” reflects my personal experience relative to the price level. I have tried many pizzas in different places, and for the price range charged at your restaurant, I expected a higher level of quality. That is why the overall value felt underwhelming.
My intention in leaving the review was simply to share an honest customer experience and highlight areas where clearer communication and service could improve the overall experience for future clients.
I’m also not sure why my review was described as “not constructive.” When reading several of the responses to other critical reviews, it seems that a similar pattern often appears, where the reaction tends to be more defensive than reflective. As a business owner, it is important to recognize, understand, and empathize with the experiences of customers, even when they are negative. Every client experience will be different and subjective, and perfection is rarely achievable. The closest a business can get to it is by being open to feedback, rather than dismissing or minimizing opinions that differ from its own.
Best regards,
Alex
The staff is extremely friendly, attentive, and welcoming — we felt comfortable right away.
The food was excellent:
I had the fish soup, which was surprisingly flavorful and really well made. I also tried the “Lucas Meatball,” apparently a classic here — and it absolutely deserves that reputation. It was really, really good.
Our little one had pasta, which looked delicious and she enjoyed it a lot.
The portions are generous, so we didn’t even have room left for dessert. A very sweet touch: they immediately brought some toys for our daughter, which we appreciated so much.
A special shout-out to Joshua and Sheffield, who took care of us — both were fantastic!
Definitely a place we’d come back to. ✨
