KYOTO SUSHI JAPANESE RESTAURANT is hands-down the best sushi and hibachi value in the metro area. It’s one of the first indications that Minnesota sushi restaurants are starting to compete with each other on price points, which is great news for those of us who would love to stuff our faces with raw fish daily. The all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffets are inexpensive and include everything from super white tuna nigiri and rainbow rolls to soba noodle soups and salmon teriyaki rice. We suggest you enjoy this place before they realize they are essentially giving their sushi away.

Took Mom out for her birthday lunch yesterday.
Never been to this Kyoto and decided to stop by since it smells so good outside the restaurant.
They have an open concept and you’re able to see all the way to the back where the sushi is being made.
We were sat immediately and given a nice spacious booth.
Our server greeted us immediately and took our drink and appetizer order.
The wing appetizer was good, little spice breading but falling off telling me they were overcooked.
We both had the hibachi with steak and chicken, mixed veggies and fried rice. Great presentation!
Steak and chicken we both very tough and overcooked. Veggies were perfect and fried rice was great.
Don’t forget to get yum yum sauce to add to rice or dip you shrimp they give you with this entree. I’ll stop back again when I’m in the mood for sushi.

Great food, great sushi, its AYCE if you like being served one item at a time, and long waits between.. Server was very nice, and apologetic at least. Great food, but I will not go back because of how long it kept taking..

Hate to do this. Have came here time and time again and every time has been amazing. Today around 3pm was the worst service I’ve ever had in any sit down restaurant. The server disappeared for a long time, multiple times. He took our first order, then we didn’t see him again until we had been delivered that order, had finished it, and had been sitting and waiting. We had to grab another server to fill our drinks after they sat empty for a long time. Our server messed up the sushi order and also the dessert order. During a slow period at the restaurant when we were one of the only tables if not the only table he had. The food was great, everyone else who stopped by our table was awesome.

First place I’ve ever had sushi, and I’ve come here three times now. They’ve got an all you can eat lunch for about 20 bucks and I’d say the quality is worth it. They’ve got a fairly wide array of sushi, sushi rolls, tempura, and even soups (planning to try their Ramen next time I go.) As well as some fried options, like scallops, spring rolls, dumplings and quite a bit else, most of which I still need to try.
Honestly I’d suggest this place during the week for lunch for sure! Will definitely have to see how it is at dinner time, too.

First time there, and tried the all you can eat for variety. The sushi wasn’t that good, most were overstuffed with veggies and it tasted like it. Fried rice was decent but over cooked. The salmon was dry and over cooked. Maybe some people would prefer a more vegetable filled sushi roll but we didn’t care for them.
The service was excellent, the restaurant was very clean and nice. It’s just too bad the food wasn’t what we are into.

It makes me very sad to give this place such a low review – for a long time, it was our favorite place to go eat when we wanted to have a special date night, or we felt like we needed our spirits uplifted.
But out of the last few times we’ve gone, we’ve had to deal with enormous wait times (20+ minutes for any servers to show up at our table), being sat at sticky and unwashed tables, having food we ordered just never showing up, food coming out of the kitchen very slowly and sometimes cold, and very absent servers. This last time we went, we showed up an hour before lunch time ended, and when the bill showed up it was priced for dinner time, even though we hadn’t asked for any food after dinner time began, and were given zero heads up from our server about last call for orders like usual.
I feel very disappointed – for how expensive it is (even with lunch prices) – I just don’t feel like it’s worth it to eat here now. I would really like to come back and change this review for a more positive rating, but even though I will miss it, I just don’t know if I will feel compelled to eat here again for a long while after these experiences. 🙁

Delicious and very reasonably priced, this was one of the best sushi experiences Ive had! The rolls and nigiri were awesome, and our wait staff was very attentive but not pushy. We enjoyed the lunch buffet very much, and will certainly be back.

Went here with my wife on our 3 year wedding anniversary. Waited 30 minutes after we had ordered our food and our food still had not arrived. We watched a group of 6 people walk in and get food before we received our orders. It took almost 1 hour before we had received our food. I was red in the face because I was so angry. No apologies for the long wait. Its like we didn’t even exist. I didn’t bother ordering again as I didn’t want to wait another hour for more food. To say I was disappointed is a big understatement.

First we got there and there was no one at the front it took 3 people walking by to get some help. It was so loud in there and the person who sat on the booth opposite us kept rocking the seat. We never got ginger and wasabi even though we requested it. The soy sauce they gave us was practically empty. Then we had to put our orders in several times because we never received everything.

A great spot for All You Can Eat sushi. Our favorites were the spicy salmon and unagi sushi. The Boston and spider rolls were also very good, and our favorites among the rolls we tried. We also had the beef teriyaki and beef udon soup. The beef teriyaki turned out a lot better than I was expecting. This will be my new AYCE sushi spot!
