The haleem which we were particularly looking forward to lacked the rich, slow-cooked depth of flavor that typically defines the dish. It felt a bit rushed and didn’t have the comforting texture or spice balance we were hoping for. The biryani was average at best the rice was mildly flavorful, but the meat wasn’t particularly tender or well-marinated. Similarly, the butter chicken was decent but didn’t stand out and it was missing that creamy, buttery richness and signature tanginess that makes the dish special.
The naan was fresh but not exceptional While the portion sizes were fair and the service was polite, the food simply didn’t deliver the bold, vibrant flavors we associate with good Indian cuisine.
Overall, it was an okay experience but nothing memorable. With a few improvements this place could really shine but for now it didn’t quite meet the mark.
Edit: I tried their food for the second time and let me re-emphasize that their biryani is closest to the biryani you would find in the streets of old city, Hyderabad but very difficult in the US
Edit 2: Tried their Biryani another time, and received a not very fresh Biryani with uncooked chicken, and also the chicken 65 they served along looked and tasted different from the previous times. I would like to think that it was just one bad day but really ruined my impression I had earlier. I ordered the Biryani on Jan 30, posting the image for reference.
The manager at restaurant Bhagya is phenomenal. She always promises and delivers the best.
We had used their catering service for my In-laws 75th birthday. First FIL birthday in May and MIL in December this year. FIL was for family of 35 and MIL it was grand party with guests up to 170 and each and everyone loved the food. We had big menu and each and every item was delicious , fresh and quality and quantity were very good Many of the guests took the manager’s number to place order personally.
Nizam’s Biryani did exactly that.
I visited by chance, with no big expectations. What I found was a place that treats dum biryani with real respect — not as fast food, but as a craft.
The Asli goat dum biryani is excellent. The goat is cooked just right — soft, juicy, and full of flavor, but not overcooked. Each piece has absorbed the masala properly, which shows slow and careful dum cooking, not shortcuts.
The rice is a standout. Every grain is separate, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. The masala is evenly mixed throughout the biryani, so every bite tastes complete. Spice and salt are balanced very well — flavorful, but never too strong or oily. This is the kind of biryani that feels complete and satisfying, not heavy or messy.
After Irving Deccan Grill, this is the next place where I felt that true Hyderabadi dum biryani satisfaction.
The goat haleem is equally impressive. Smooth, rich, and well-cooked, with deep flavor that only comes from slow cooking. Easily one of the best haleems I’ve had — not just good, but genuinely memorable.
Service also deserves mention. Bhagya, who seemed to be the manager, was warm, attentive, and genuinely customer-focused. The hospitality added to the overall experience without feeling forced.
Nizam’s Biryani doesn’t try to be trendy. It focuses on doing the basics perfectly — good ingredients, proper cooking, and honest flavors.
Highly recommended — not just as a restaurant, but as a place that sets the standard for how real dum biryani should taste.
The chicken dum biryani is flavorful and well cooked. The chicken is soft, juicy, and absorbs the masala properly. It’s not dry, not rubbery, and not drowned in oil or spice. The taste stays balanced from start to finish.
The rice is light, aromatic, and cooked perfectly. Masala is mixed evenly, so every bite tastes the same. Spice level is just right — flavorful without being too strong.
Other food items are also done well. Nothing feels rushed or greasy. Flavors are clean and portions are fair. The kitchen focuses on doing simple things correctly.
Overall, Nizam’s is a reliable place for good chicken biryani and well-made food. No hype — just honest taste and consistency.
Ordered Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Hyderabadi Dum Biryani & Goat Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani.
Chicken Tandoori – Nice perfectly cooked, fresh & Tender. The marination was well balanced. Slightly less on salt but that’s fine than more.
Goat Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani- Super flavourful perfect moisture to the rice. Goat mutton pieces were decent quantity. Personally felt the mutton piece could have been slightly more cooked for it to be more juicy.
Chicken Hyderabadi Dum Biryani- Rice were too dry and difficult to eat after few bites. Chicken pieces were decent and cooked fine.
Overall will definitely try this place again for Goat Biryani and Chicken Tandoori.
Be ready to wait for a while before you get your order.
The mutton is the hero here. Each piece is cooked evenly — soft, juicy, and full of flavor without falling apart. It tastes like the masala has gone inside the meat, not just coated on the outside, which usually happens only with proper dum cooking and patience.
The rice is clean and fragrant, with every grain separate. What stood out most was how evenly the masala was mixed — no bland bites, no overpowering spice pockets. The flavor stays consistent from the first spoon to the last. Spice level is balanced and mature, not aggressive, letting the mutton flavor lead.
This is not oily or heavy biryani. It feels well-measured and thoughtfully prepared, the kind you can enjoy fully without feeling tired halfway through.
Overall, the mutton dum biryani feels honest and traditional — no shortcuts, no unnecessary twists. Just solid execution and deep flavor.
A place worth revisiting if you care about real dum-style mutton biryani.
