One really dislikes writing a negative review after reading all the really positive ones. We ordered for carry out. For the amount of money we spent on this trip you think some of the offerings would be fresh. The fried rice and yakisoba noodles have old chicken which tasted old as it has a weird taste. This chicken should have also been cut into smaller pieces. The sushi was okay it should also state “imitation crab”. Looked great but the taste was off. The General Tso’s appetizer was good with a bit of spice however it is a very small appetizer serving. The fried shumai was very off putting and overdone. They looked like mini scallops. The sesame balls (which are my favorite) were very tasty. In the end 4 of us ended up not feeling well after eating. It must have been an off night for Sakura. This was a one and done trip.

I would say this place is good but not great, the General Tso’s chicken was fantastic however they only offer it as an appetizer which I think is a huge miss as it would be a great entree. The sushi was just ok it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, I felt that it was just lacking some flavor and some pop. The staff was great and very friendly and attentive. They do have many other options so I will for sure stop by again and try some other things.

This place was great for the town of Altus.
Definitely gets busy and would be a great place for celebrations.
The staff seemed friendly and the service was good.
We ordered the love boat for 2 and the fish was in a nice presentation.
Tasted fresh and was a good amount for the price.
The side salad and miso soup was delicious!

Sashimi tastes good and beef is tender and awesome.
Age tofu is a little bit greasy.

An updated review after renovations.
Sakura recently had a grand opening after renovating thier resturant. After visiting here are some things to take note of.
1. Service is super slow. So many people are trying to get in that it took 30 minutes to get seated. After being seating it took 20 minutes for a waitresses to grab our drink/food order. I ordered a few sushi rolls which took over an hour to receive while my girlfriend got a kitchen entree and received it much quicker. If you are expecting fast service, you will most likely not get it until the popularity dies down or you go right when they open. The servers are friendly though and try thier best.
2. Food is actually good though. Being Japanese and stuck in Altus, this is the only real close option for me for sushi or other entrees.
3. Atmosphere is nice and clean. The renovations really are nice. The old Sakura was much more run down looking.
Overall the food is good. If you are expecting decent service though, you are probably not gonna get it until the popularity dies down. I saw people leave because how long it took to get food or be seated.
Give it a few more weeks and I am sure everything will normalize.

After eating here several times, let me start by saying the food is always amazing. The sushi and hibachi are the reason I keep coming back. The service could use a little work. The waitresses run to your table and quickly run away before you can ask for what you need, even when you try to be quick. I understand being busy, but even when there are few guests, it is still like this. Amp up the service and this would absolutely be a 5 star review!
